RIVALRY WEEK. 🧡

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to remember the children who never returned home, honour Survivors, their families and their communities, and recognize that reconciliation requires more than a single day.

As we look ahead to Saturday night, we carry that message of respect, community and responsibility with us.

The final Battle of Edmonton of the regular season takes us to Sherwood Park.

The Edmonton Huskies are saddened to hear of the passing of Norm Kimball, one of the great names in the history of football in this city.
Before most people knew him as “Stormin’ Norman” and before he became one of the most respected executives in Canadian football, Norm was a Huskie. He coached with the Huskies in the 1950s and took over as the teams second Head Coach in 1959, leading the team to an Alberta Championship.
From there, his football career became something pretty incredible.
Norm went on to spend more than two decades with the Edmonton Football Club, eventually becoming General Manager and helping build the teams that won six Grey Cups, including five straight from 1978 to 1982.
His accomplishments speak for themselves, but his impact on football went well beyond the professional game.
Norm helped build the Huskies in the early years of our organization, and his influence on amateur football in Alberta continued for generations. Football Alberta’s Coach of the Year Award carries his name,
For us, that connection means a lot.
Before the Grey Cups, the Hall of Fame honours and everything else that followed, he was one of ours.
Our thoughts are with Norm’s family, friends and everyone in the football community who had the opportunity to know him.
Norm helped build the foundation that generations of Huskies have stood on. His legacy will always be part of this organization.

The Edmonton Huskies family is deeply saddened by the passing of Past President, longtime executive, builder and friend, Mike Eurchuk.

Mike’s connection to the Huskies spanned nearly six decades. He served as General Manager, Treasurer, President and director, also helping preserve the organization’s history and shape its future.

His contributions to football were recognized nationally, including the CJFL Stewart MacDonald Executive of the Year Award in 2013 and the CJFL Ed Henick Meritorious Service Award in 2021, serving as the CJFL treasurer for 23 years probably helped that.

Mike was also a respected Canadian wrestling official and builder, serving at Olympic, World, Commonwealth and Pan-American Games.

We are grateful for everything Mike gave to the Edmonton Huskies and extend our condolences to his family, friends and to the many communities he touched.

Thank you for everything, Mike.
We'll miss you

WEEK 8. BACK ON THE ROAD.

Only two games left in the regular season, and there’s still a lot of football to be played. Saturday night we head to Calgary for another PFC matchup with the Colts at Shouldice Athletic Park.

We’ve already seen Calgary once this season, so there won’t be many surprises. At this point in the year, everybody knows what’s at stake. You can't just show up, you need to play disciplined football and take care of the opportunities in front of you.

This week we’re featuring 5th-year Huskie Wyatt Matson.

Wyatt has dealt with injuries for much of this season, and there’s a good chance he won’t get the ending to his 5th year that he pictured when the season started. But that hasn’t changed the way he shows up.

He’s stayed positive, stayed engaged and continued to be a leader around this team. Over five years, we’ve watched him grow, not just as a football player, but as a teammate and as a Huskie. Sometimes leadership is easy to see when you’re on the field making plays. Sometimes it shows up in the way you handle things when football doesn’t go the way you hoped.

Wyatt has handled that part pretty damn well.

LAST REGULAR SEASON HOME GAME.

Sunday is a big one. We’re back at JP Bowl for our final regular-season home game; Saskatoon is coming to town, and there are some huge playoff implications attached to this one.

We’re sitting at 2–3, Saskatoon is 3–2, and Calgary and the Cats are right there with us. With three games left, there’s still a lot to be decided, and the teams we’re battling are all still on our schedule.

So there’s really no point worrying about what anybody else does. We just need to take care of what’s in front of us.

And it starts Sunday.

This one is also a little different for us because we’ll be recognizing our 5th-year grads before their final regular season home game at JP Bowl.

These guys have given a lot to this program. Practices, travel, injuries, wins, losses, long days, late nights and everything else that comes with playing junior football. For some of them, Sunday could be the last regular season game they play at home in black and gold.

We’d love to have a big crowd there to send them off properly.

The alarm came early.
The Edmonton Huskies were at the airport at 4:30 this morning, flying into Winnipeg and going straight into preparation for a 1:00 PM CDT kickoff against the Winnipeg Ri**es
