Huge shout-out to all the referees who helped make the 2026 Calgary Youth Nationals such a success! Alberta's referees were out in full force throughout the tournament, bringing their expertise, professionalism, and dedication to courts across the city while helping create an incredible experience for thousands of athletes.
A special congratulations to Jeremy Gray, who earned the assignment of refereeing the 17U Boys National Championship Final. Referee Development Lead Travis Rott was also part of the championship match, supporting the referee team and helping deliver a high-quality experience on one of the tournament's biggest stages.
Several Alberta referees received finals assignments throughout the event:
- Shauna Gregus โ 17U Girls Bronze (R1)
- Jeremy Gray โ 17U Boys Gold (R1)
- Mitch Forest โ 15U Girls Bronze (R2)
- Tetiana Malandii โ 16U Girls Gold (R2)
- Neal Konowalyk โ 16U Boys Bronze (R2)
Congratulations to all of these referees on their well-earned assignments, and thank you to every referee whose hard work, commitment, and countless hours helped make Nationals possible.

Looking for a volleyball camp in Northern Alberta this summer?
Volleyball Alberta is heading back to Grimshaw August 18-21 with two camps designed for athletes at different stages of their volleyball journey.
Our SMASHBALL camp (ages 6-11) introduces young athletes to volleyball in a fun, modified format that gets them playing, learning, and even spiking right away.
For athletes ages 12-15, our four-day volleyball camp focuses on skill development, gameplay, and building confidence in a supportive training environment. Groups are divided by skill level, and our low coach-to-athlete ratio helps ensure every athlete gets plenty of feedback and reps.
Spots are limited and registration closes two weeks before camp begins. Register through the Volleyball Alberta website.

Congratulations on a very special 2025โ26 club season, and to all the Volleyball Alberta teams that participated at nationals. It was great to see Alberta represented on the podium.
The 18U Girls division was a particularly special, with Alberta teams capturing gold, silver, and bronze to complete an all-Alberta podium.
A special shout-out to the Red Deer-based clubs, Central Alberta Kings and Central Alberta Queens, which secured a total of four podium finishes.
This season also saw incredible participation across the province, including one of the largest Provincial Championships Volleyball Alberta has ever hosted. Calgary was also proud to host Youth Nationals, Canada's largest youth team sporting event, welcoming more than 22,000 athletes from across the country.
