Fatal and Non-Fatal Drowning
National Drowning Prevention Week π
Drowning doesnβt always look like an emergency, and it can happen quickly and quietly. One of the easiest ways to stay safe is to never swim alone.
Bring a buddy, keep an eye on one another, and be ready to call for help if an emergency happens.
Did you know?
π§ 72% of older adults who fatally drown are alone at the time of the incident.
π§ 56% of middle-aged adults who fatally drown are alone.
π§ 41% of young adults who fatally drown are alone.
Whether youβre spending the day at the beach, lake, or pool, the buddy system can save lives.
Letβs work together to prevent both fatal and non-fatal drownings by making safe choices every time we head to the water.
