Looking for a different push up progression to add into your routine? Try this double foam roller variation as pictured here by Bob!

In addition to providing a great alternative "handle" to the floor, your stabilizers have to fight and adjust from side to side to keep your upper body lined up.

Think of it as extra activation and a great way to work on your upper body strength, while not being *too* unstable either.

(If full body feels too difficult, you can try starting from your knee push up position first)

Great work here Bob!! 😎 πŸ’ͺ

Are you having any achilles tendon tightness or pain while you do lower body exercises?

πŸ‘‰ Utilizing a wedge to put your calf in "plantarflexion" (toes away from your shins) is a great way to take some tension out of that area and allow you to focus on the other aspects of the lift.

Always remember to work smarter, not necessarily harderπŸ™

Because injuries and flare ups happen, but it doesn't mean we stop either!

β€œThere is no secret formula. We lift safely but heavy, work hard, and aim to be the best versions of ourselves.”

In case you forgot, here's some great benefits from your regular workouts as you get older πŸ‘‡

Stronger Bones & Joints: Weight-bearing exercises stimulate bone-building cells, slowing osteoporosis and protecting against fractures. It also relieves osteoarthritis pain by strengthening the muscles that support the joints

Improved Mobility & Balance: Building muscle directly translates to daily functional independence -> making it easier to walk faster, climb stairs, and get up from seated positions. Better balance drastically reduces the risk of dangerous falls as well!

Enhanced Brain Health: Resistance training can slow the loss of cognitive function and is linked to a reduced risk of dementia and/or Alzheimer's disease

Increased Longevity & Heart Health: Regular weightlifting lowers blood pressure, improves cholesterol levels, and is associated with a significantly lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease and other related causes

Metabolism & Weight Management: Building muscle mass boosts resting metabolism, helping to burn fat and ward off metabolic diseases like Type 2 diabetes

Mental Health: Lifting weights combats symptoms of anxiety and depression, improves sleep quality, and restores confidence in your physical ability

"I can't afford to eat healthy, it's too expensive"

This is a common one we've heard over the years and nowadays we totally get it.

However, healthy eating when done properly does not have to be expensive and in fact can often save you money versus eating otherwise.

Items like beans/legumes, whole grains, and seasonal produce (to name a few) are often a relatively cheap and easy way to maximize your dollar at the grocery store, while giving your body the nutrients it needs.

And while some other processed food items can indeed seem cheaper and more convenient at times, it's important to consider the long term costs and health effects on your body when done in excess.
Furthermore, eating out and/or ordering food while saving you time is often much more expensive than your grocery food items - and often won't last as long for your weekly eating!

So remember, plan your week with some meal plans and foods you enjoy. Give yourself time in the week to gather whatever items you need, and time to prepare them.
You only get one body, treat it well and it will treat you well back!

We've had some questions about Bosu's and other balance training devices - an important note to remember that they do different things than our traditional lifting!

Shout-Out to Heather and Steve working hard during their morning workout!
