Strength training isn't just for athletes. In fact, it's essential for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level, to maintain bone density, muscle mass, and overall strength.

But for athletes, strength training is non-negotiable if they want to maintain their performance. 💪 Whether you’re an elite competitor or someone just getting started with fitness, building and maintaining muscle is key for keeping up strength, power, and even injury prevention.

As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass—a process called sarcopenia—but regular strength training helps slow that down and even reverse some of it! It’s never too late to start building the strength you need to feel your best, inside and out. 🚀

So whether you're hitting the gym to crush your next competition, or simply want to stay strong for daily life, strength training is a must.

In case anyone watches this video closely, you will notice that my push up form is only OK, not great. Among other things, I move my head too much here just like I do when I swim. Plus, this set is my second set of 10 reps in less than 30 seconds and my third set of the workout. Hey, at least I did them!

The 2025 Push-Up Challenge for Candadian Mental Health Association is underway and over $2.2million has been raised already. Last year's challenge generated $2.4 million so this year's event is on the way to exceeding last year's total. Anyone can participate and donate.
Today's goal is 100 pushups and I will do them in sets of 10 throughout the day. I'm at 40 so far.
And, yes, I know that my tights are obnoxious but I love them for it!

An ad for a supplement called Fatty15 popped up in a newsletter I got this week and, since it was new to me, I was curious. What is it really? As it turns out, it isn't anything new and it also isn't anything that has any statistically proven benefit to humans. There are only two human studies (and very small ones at that). One study showed no measureable benefit and the second study was done by the company selling the supplement. These are just a few of the red flags that should give you pause before you send someone your money just yet. More research is still needed in order to support the level of promo this supplement is getting.

FYI, what is Fatty15? It is pentadecanoic acid or C-15, is an odd-chain saturated fatty acid. It is found in animal and fish fats like chicken, butter, marine and freshwater fish. There are a few plant sources as well. If you eat a diet that include chicken, dairy and fish, may already getting C15 in quantities that exceed those found in Fatty15's dose.

Sarcopenia, age related muscle loss, isn't a foregone conclusion that we should rely on to explain a decline in strength over time. Atroohy is a contributing factor and we all know how to fix that. The old adage "Use it or lose it" is part of the story. You know how to fix it and it's never too late to start.

I made these brownies yesterday and loved, loved them! I know the recipe says "16 servings" but I found it impossible to eat just one. For me, this recipe is closer to eight servings. Try it and see what you think. Next time, I think I'll use peanut butter chips and I might even swirl a little peanut butter around the pan.
