Haven't seen the bike park yet? Here's where it's at.

Won't Die and Cooper's Hawk are open to ride, and Cooper's Hawk starts on the timber helix. The rest is still being built: a new flow trail boardwalk, the green skills and jump area, the whale's tail, a wood drop (with drops for other skill levels coming) and a paved pump track.

All of it built by volunteers. Help us finish it: Buy-a-Builder fuels a volunteer, from a $5 beverage to a $100 battery. Links in the comments 👇

This Saturday: ride a little, help a little, ride some more.
We’re running a drop-in volunteer shift from 10 AM–5 PM at the Edmonton Bike Park.
The idea is simple: if you’re already out enjoying some all-time fall-time, swing by the park, check in with Josh at the sea can, lend a hand for 15–30 minutes (or longer), then get back on your bike.
There’ll be plenty of quick jobs — throw some dirt, tidy something up, pick up some garbage, help us keep moving things toward the finish line — while also getting a chance to ride the jumps, completed skills features and pump track.
Basically: use the park like you normally would, but leave it a little better than you found it.

MUST have a signed waiver to ride. See link in our post to register/sign waiver, or head to our website.
Bring your bike. Bring some gloves. Give us a few minutes of work.

📼🎸 SEPTEMBER 21: THE VOLUNTEER REMIX 🎸📼

Edmonton Bike Park presents:

BUILDING IN THE NAME OF… NICE WEATHER.

That’s right. After spending most of the season starring in Mud: The Musical, the sun has finally returned for its long-awaited reunion tour.

The dirt is dry.
The tools are ready.
The wheelbarrows have been released from captivity.
And somewhere, a rake is waiting for YOU.

This is our FINAL COUNTDOWN-ish push before fall drops the temperature, the leaves hit the ground, and everybody suddenly remembers they own a couch.

So grab your gloves, lace up the work boots, cue the montage music and prepare for:

🎤 DIRT!
🎸 SHOVELS!
🥁 WHEELBARROWS!
🎹 QUESTIONABLE 90s DANCE MOVES WHILE RAKING!

We’ve got trails to finish, features to dial and a bike park that is getting dangerously close to looking like an actual bike park.

And remember:

YOU CAN’T TOUCH THIS…

…unless you volunteered to help build it.

Okay, technically you can eventually. But you get the idea.

🔥 Sun’s out.
🔥 Dirt’s dialed.

RESPECT THE FENCE

A quick but important reminder for everyone visiting the Edmonton Bike Park:

If the fence is up, the fenced lower section is CLOSED. Please stay out.

That area is still an active construction zone. At different stages, trail surfaces, base material and other work may be compacting, curing or waiting for the next construction step. Riding through before it is ready can damage completed work and potentially set the project back.

This is becoming especially important now as the asphalt pump track gets closer to the asphalt phase. The preparation underneath the asphalt needs to stay exactly as the builders leave it. Riding through the area can rut, loosen or otherwise damage that work.

We know everyone is excited to ride it — we are too. The quickest way to get there is to give the crews the space and time they need to finish it properly.

Fence up = stay out.
Respect the fence. Respect the build.

FALL: PRIME TIME FOR RIDING… AND PRIME TIME FOR BUILDING. 🍂🚲

Cooler temps. Better dirt. Fewer mosquitoes. Hero conditions. And apparently the perfect time to spend a few hours with a rogue hoe or shovel before grabbing the bike.

We’ve got a bunch of new September volunteer shifts posted at Edmonton Bike Park, with lots still to finish as we push toward getting more of the park ready for riders.

The skills areas are coming together, new wooden features are going in, and the park is looking more like the place we’ve spent years working toward every week.

But it still takes people to finish it.

If you’ve enjoyed Edmonton’s trails all summer, consider trading one ride for one build shift. Come out, get your hands dirty, meet some fellow riders, and help put the finishing touches on something the whole community will get to enjoy.

No experience required. We’ll show you what to do.

🍂 Fall dirt is best dirt.
🚲 Fall riding is best riding.
⛏️ And trails don’t build themselves.

No dig, no ride.

THIS IS WHAT WE’RE WORKING TOWARD. 👀

The pump track is getting closer, the skills areas are taking shape, and every volunteer shift gets us another step toward having the Edmonton Bike Park ready to ride.

The image above is a concept visualization of what the finished pump track could look like based on the current build — and we need your help turning the real thing into reality.

* Tuesday, Sept. 1 — 10:00 AM–2:00 PM Trail Building + 6:30–9:00 PM Green Skills
* Wednesday, Sept. 2 — 10:00 AM–2:00 PM Trail Building
* Thursday, Sept. 3 — 10:00 AM–2:00 PM Trail Building + 6:30–9:00 PM Green Skills
* Friday, Sept. 4 — 10:00 AM–2:00 PM Trail Building
* Saturday, Sept. 5 — additional volunteer shift starting at 1:00 PM — check the calendar for details.

The evening shifts are a little different: we’ll be building, installing and test riding skills features in the Green Skills Loops as we get them dialled in for riders.

No experience? No problem. We’ll show you what needs to be done.

Come for one shift, come for a couple, or grab some riding buddies and make a day of it. We still need the community behind this build to get it finished.

FAMILY TRAIL DAY THIS SUNDAY!!

Our Sunday trail day is still pretty light on volunteers, so we're turning it into a bit of a Family Trail Day.

Josh is bringing his kids, and if you've been looking for a chance to get the family involved in building the Edmonton Bike Park, this is a great opportunity.

We'll be focusing on lighter trail work and getting more of the park cleaned up, shaped and ready for riders. No trail-building experience is needed — we'll show you what to do.

Bring the kids, bring a friend, or just come lend a hand yourself.

It's a pretty cool thing to be able to say:

"I helped build that."

Please bring sturdy footwear, work gloves, water, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Parents/guardians should supervise younger volunteers and help choose tasks appropriate for them.

Very cool to see the Edmonton Bike Park featured in Edify Edmonton today! 🚲

This project has been more than 20 years in the making, and it has only become a reality because of the people who believed in it, advocated for it, donated to it and — most importantly — showed up to help build it.

Thousands of volunteer hours have gone into creating a place where riders of all ages and abilities can learn, progress and enjoy mountain biking right here in the heart of Edmonton’s river valley.

There’s still work ahead of us, but it’s pretty incredible to look back at how far this community-built project has come.

Thanks to Edify Edmonton and Kristina Felker for telling the story — and to every volunteer who has put a shovel in the ground along the way. 💚
