Bike Edmonton Our vision: a city where cycling is safe, widespread, & accessible to people of all comfort levels. Learn how to fix your bike and ride in the city.

Buy a refurbished bike, or donate a disused one. Meet other cyclists and help us advocate for a vibrant city. Whether you ride once a week, 265 bike-friendly days a year, or year-round, Bike Edmonton gives you the tools you need to enjoy cycling. Established as the Edmonton Bicycle Commuters Society in 1980 and now known as Bike Edmonton, we operate two volunteer-run community bike workshops, provide cycling education for people of all ages, host events with community partners year-round, and represent you at City Hall. We work to make cycling accessible for everyone because we believe that an Edmonton where anyone can choose to cycle is an Edmonton that’s better for all.

Next Wednesday, October 28th, Edmonton Transit Riders welcomes Veronica O. Davis for a book launch and to learn how we can build equitable transportation networks that connect people to jobs, education, and each other.

In Inclusive Transportation: A Manifesto for Repairing Divided Communities, transportation expert Veronica O. Davis shines a light on the inequitable and often destructive practice of transportation planning and engineering. She calls for new thinking and more diverse leadership to create transportation networks that connect people to jobs, education, opportunities, and to each other.

This Sunday, we're holding a clinic for women and gender-diverse people. We're excited to teach a really useful repair skill to people who're often underrepresented in the bike world, and who might be new to our shop. So if you've never fixed a flat, or just want to brush up on your technique, please come! The clinic runs from 6pm to 9pm and you can join at any time. Registration is required, so please sign up using the link below.

And don't worry if you're not a woman or gender-diverse because because there's lots of other good ways to learn this skill. You can check out our public courses (Bike Repair 101 covers flat repair in good detail), or just come by the shop anytime during public hours and we'd be glad to walk you through how to fix your flat tire.

Bike lane detour updates from Epcor:

Work is currently underway on the north side of the High Level Bridge. We are grateful that EPCOR Canada is prioritizing active transport by keeping the west sidewalk open during construction. There is a detour in Ezio Farone park, so please follow the posted signage.

Work continues on the Inglewood sinkhole at 121 street & 114 Ave. There is a detour via a fun metal bridge if you are heading north-south, however the east-west bike lane that connects to 114 Ave is completely closed.

On the south side, 106 Street will be closed between 69 & 70 Ave from approximately September 25th to 28th.

"Changing Lanes shines a light on the politics of grievance and a wider culture war, things that anyone with a passing familiarity with politics, municipal or otherwise, is aware of. As the Department of Transportation of New York is nearing the finish line on improvements for McGuinness Blvd, an astroturfed campaign led by wealthy landowners and business folks starts to push back on the proposed changes at the 11th hour. This reactionary movement starts putting pressure on the government to pause the changes and maintain the status quo. Who does the government listen to? The data? Or the anecdotal feelings of those with more material wealth? Changing Lanes now starts scratching at the surface of the rising class disparity. Facts versus feelings. Renters versus owners. Bike Edmonton is at okimaw peyesew kamik every Thursday from 10am - 1pm.

They offer free basic repairs for bikes and repair other mobility aids as they are able.

Bike Edmonton has been offering this service at our locations for over 5 years! And now, because of the space we have at okimaw peyesew kamik, Bike Edmonton offers this service year-round!

We are grateful for their work as they walk and cycle alongside those we serve, meeting them where they’re at.
