Aerobic Power Training Systems is based on this simple principle: in all endurance sports, the faster you wish to perform a given amount of work, the more power you will need to produce to do so. Multisport athletes of all levels have access to professional coaching, group workouts in swimming, biking or running, and comprehensive weight training programs geared to your own physical status.

Blu Moose Gravel Event. Out of Golden, Kicking Horse Resort. Unfortunately conditions made filming difficult but hopefully you can get a sense of the amazing terrain this course provides. A very grassroots event, the way many feel gravel events should be. This is one for everyone, challenging with some long climbs but nothing technical. So possible for anyone to enjoy.

Lots of ways to develop cycling power or the ability to put out force into the pedals. We started with some big gear jump starts and then for the second half completed some hill reps alternating vo2 with climbing under fatigue and managing to fort as if it was mid long event.

Avoiding the rain inside.
Thankfully event week this week so short rides all week, not sure I could do more then an hr and even that I needed a little tv. Luckily some replays from winter made for quick set up and an appropriate workout selection.

They asked we answered, “ how about a women’s cycling group?” So spear headed by women in our cycling group, we thought of Women Wheelin on Weekends. On this past weekend a group of 5 took on the River Valley Gravel to Ft Sask and back. Training for bike packing and events such as Drumheller Badlands and The Range. Don’t let their fearsome looks scare you away they would welcome all comers in the name of having fun while developing fitness and chasing exciting goals.

finishing second today. As we take big pedal strokes in expanding our cycling community. We have a few experienced veterans on board to help lead the way and today one of them did just that. Congrats!

Track 1mile TT

Today was our annual highly anticipated, 1 mile Time Trial .
Initiated many years ago following research by Dr Billat.
She was testing velocity at Vo2. And then workouts were designed to extend the time our body was” feeling” the training at that level. We utilize this frame work while considering the differences in testing times compared to her research.
She used a 6 minute run for distance. I like more specific targets, so we run for a mile which then results in a broader range of finishing times. But thats ok.
Working with a large group of mixed abilities and goals one has to figure out how to utilize programming to satisfy the needs of all.
The specifics of the research may apply more to our 5- 6 minute milers but I believe the sessions provide a multitude of benefits for all levels of runners.

*Controlled, fast running encourages better run form
*It’s easy to train to run for long durations, but how many challenge their ability to put out near maximal effort. Train the body to coordinate all our systems to move fast and explosively.
*More specifically speaking, as we start to get older many shy away from high effort work. Like muscle mass, Vo2 declines steadily with age, so sessions like this are also important to anybody when looking ahead at our long term health.
*At our sessions we’ll learn to run fast then adjust percentages, to accommodate the extending length of intervals to 5 and 10k interval work which becomes more specific to our groups performance goals.

115km with about 90km all in our river valley with 75 km of that attempting to stay of paved paths, but for those who want paved, they are there, all that way. It was amazing, gravel and paved all the way to almost ft Sask. and some new areas, pathways even upgraded from last year, around and passed the quarry, legends golf course and onward.
