Sometimes we carry more than we realise—tension in the body, noise in the mind, and habits that keep us feeling stuck.
Yoga offers a way to pause, breathe, and begin to move with greater awareness and freedom.
Our 4-week Intro to Yoga session is an invitation to explore movement, breath, strength, and stillness in a supportive shala environment.

“SOMATIC” is everywhere right now—but what does a genuinely somatic practice actually feel and look like?

It may look less like adding another technique and more like changing the way you pay attention: noticing breath, sensation, effort, tension, and internal response rather than simply performing a movement from the outside.

This shift happens naturally with an Ashtanga-Mysore practice.
Ashtanga may feel primarily physical:
learning the sequence
building strength
working with alignment
developing stamina.

But that’s only the beginning
the practice move from how the posture looks to how it feels very quickly.

In Mysore-style practice, fewer external cues invite you to follow your own breath and develop greater internal awareness.

The Tristana method—breath, posture, and gaze—offers a steady framework for bringing attention into the present body and away from mental distraction.

Repetition refine your perception. As the sequence becomes more familiar, you begin to notice subtle differences in breath, muscular effort, balance, resistance, and mood.

The practice becomes less about achieving a shape and more about listening, responding, and adapting.

This doesn’t mean Ashtanga automatically regulates the nervous system or releases stored emotions. Those claims are often overstated, especially in wellness marketing. But practiced with patience, awareness, and respect for your individual needs, your ashtanga practice will support concentration, interoception, and a deeper sense of embodiment.

A somatic practice is not defined by the label. It is revealed in the quality of attention you bring to the body.

In silence, breath is the first vow—soft as a hand on the heart. Then the cello speaks: a slow fire of vibration through bone and breath, a current that gathers what is scattered. Listen until listening becomes devotion, until the body remembers it is not separate—it is instrument, it is altar.

This Sunday downtown, we’re coming together for a sound–breath–movement experience in the park: Full Primary Series held by the live cello.
