We’re lucky to be able to have these two in our league. They’re pretty good at it as well 😉

The Future is Now: Singer Brothers Emerging as Fastpitch’s Next Great Story

In a sport where elite talent is often measured by years of experience, Nova Scotia’s Singer brothers are proving that age is just a number.

At just 18 and 15 years old, Will and Cooper Singer have already built résumés that many veteran fastpitch players would envy. Between international appearances, national medals, and, soon to be, success at the senior level, the Shortt's Lake natives are quickly becoming two of the brightest young stars in Canadian fastpitch.

The brothers first gained national attention when they represented Canada at the U18 Pan American Championships last October, competing against some of the top young talent in the Americas. The experience only added to an already impressive list of accomplishments for the pair, who have risen through the ranks together while pushing each other every step of the way.

In 2025, the duo helped Team Nova Scotia capture a bronze medal at the Canada Summer Games in Newfoundland, another milestone in what has been a remarkable journey.

For older brother Will, the past year has been especially memorable. During the winter, he travelled to New Zealand to continue his development, suiting up for East Coast Bays United, one of the country’s premier softball organizations. During his time overseas, Singer competed against top international talent and further showcased his abilities on a larger stage. He was also recognized as part of East Coast Bays’ U19 representative program, continuing to build his reputation as one of Canada’s top young prospects.

Back home, Will has continued to be one of the most dangerous hitters in the Shooter’s Fastpitch League Senior Division. Through the opening weeks of the season, he sits third in league batting with a .417 average, consistently producing against some of the province’s best pitching.

Not to be outdone, younger brother Cooper is rapidly carving out his own path.

At just 15 years old, Cooper already plays with a maturity beyond his years. Last summer, he helped lead the Brookfield Elks to a bronze medal at the U17 Canadian Championships and enters this year’s national tournament with gold firmly in his sights. With much of the Elks’ core returning, expectations are high for another deep championship run.

Cooper has also been making noise at the senior level, currently sitting second in the SFL Senior Division batting race with an impressive .437 average. His combination of softball IQ, athleticism, and advanced hitting ability has made him one of the league’s toughest outs despite being one of its youngest players.

What makes the Singer story even more impressive is that neither player appears close to reaching their ceiling.

Will continues to develop into a complete player capable of competing at the highest levels of the game, while Cooper’s rapid progression suggests his best years are still ahead of him. Together, they represent the next generation of Canadian fastpitch talent and serve as an example of what dedication, hard work, and a passion for the game can accomplish.

For now, fans across Nova Scotia can watch the brothers compete against one another in the Shooter’s Fastpitch League, Cooper with the Gremlins, and Will with the Brookfield Elks. But if their current trajectory is any indication, the Singer name may soon become known far beyond provincial borders.

The future of fastpitch is bright — and two of its biggest stars are growing up right here in our neck of the woods.

Scotia Maple Electric Earn First Win in Pitchers’ Duel Over Van & Co. United

Scotia Maple Electric picked up their first victory of the 2026 Shooter’s Fastpitch League season on Wednesday night, edging Van & Co. United 3-2 in a tightly contested battle at Peter Smith Memorial Ball Field.

The story of the game was the outstanding work of Scotia Maple Electric’s Brody Fraser, who tossed a complete-game three-hitter. Fraser allowed no earned runs, walked just one batter, and struck out seven to earn the win. He also led the offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a first-inning two-run homer and a double.

Scotia struck early with two runs in the opening inning before Fraser’s blast proved to be the difference-maker. Cam Weatherbee recorded the club’s only other hit as Scotia made the most of its three-hit attack.

Van & Co. United received another dominant performance from David Watson, despite suffering his first loss of the season. Watson was electric in the circle, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out 14 batters and walking one over seven innings.

Van & Co. managed three hits of their own, coming from Cam Isenor, David Perrin, and Cam Euloth, but were unable to solve Fraser after the opening frame.

With the win, Scotia Maple Electric improves to 1-3, while Van & Co. United falls to 2-1, suffering their first defeat of the season in a game that featured just six total hits and 21 combined strikeouts.
