After days of rain, tonight felt like a gift. ☀️🐴

The sun finally showed up, the sky put on a show, and the rings were absolutely perfect. The footing was just right.

But as much as I love great footing, the company was even better.

Watching riders and horses quietly go about their work, seeing confidence grow, skills improve, and partnerships strengthen is one of my favourite parts of what we do here at Willow Grove. There’s something special about an evening at the barn when everyone is relaxed, the horses are happy, and nobody is in a hurry to leave.

And of course, Murphy was on duty, supervising lessons from her ringside seat and making sure everyone was following proper barn protocol. 🌹🐾

Some nights remind you that happiness isn’t complicated.

It’s good horses.
Good people.
A beautiful Alberta sky.
And a place that feels like home.

Tonight was one of those nights. 💛

One of life’s greatest lessons is accepting what is, not what we think should be.

The sooner we stop wrestling with reality and start looking for the opportunity, lesson, or laugh in front of us, the happier we become.

Apparently Camden skipped straight to the laugh. 😁🐴

There’s something incredibly special about the older horses. 💛🐴

The ones who have carried nervous beginners, confidence-crushed teenagers, ambitious riders, tired adults needing peace, and sometimes entire barns on their backs for years.

They owe us nothing… yet they continue to show up with patience, kindness, wisdom, and the occasional “I’ve seen enough nonsense for one lifetime” expression. 😅

As our horses age, the job changes.
It becomes less about what they can do for us… and more about what we can do for them.

The extra care matters.
The massages.
The bodywork.
The supplements.
The slower warmups.
The listening.
The gratitude.

Because these horses earned it. Every single bit of it. ❤️
