Race Crew Dragon Boat

Here’s our next instalment of Member Moment. This week we’re featuring Sandie, one of several Race Crew members on their way back from the Barcelona International Dragon Boat Fest.

Race number 2 and our first 500 m of the season is done and dusted. The competition was fierce at the Vessi 500 Championship today. Our first race was a 2:34:273 finish time and our second race brought us to a 6th place finish overall with a time of 2:18:245. Thank you to Roberta for steering for us, Amanda for calling and to Jill, Maisie, Joan and Edna for filling in for our team mates who were away.
Due to delays related to a medical emergency the semi final rounds were skipped over so there was only two races to do today. Our thoughts and prayers are with that individual, their team and their family.

Happy Monday. The sky is darker today so here’s our next instalment of Member Moment to brighten your day up a bit. This week we feature Lori, one of several Race Crew members who competed in the Barcelona International Dragon Boat Festival this weekend.

Up the creek with paddles. Coach Ben is away so Roberta took us for an adventure up West Creek on Monday night. Many thanks to her for filling in while our regular Monday steer, Alison, and Ben are in Barcelona for a regatta. And thanks to Amanda for coming out to call for us . Photo credit to

Happy Monday Race Crew fans! This week we’re giving you the opportunity to get to know Kara, our Co-Captain a little better.

Happy Mother’s Day to our dragon boat family. Today we celebrate the mums, mentors and teammates who nurture and lead us— the paddlers, strokes, steers, supporters, coaches, and cheerleaders who bring strength, heart, and determination both on and off the water.

Happy Monday Race Crew fans! Looks like it will be a beautiful week ahead for paddling. We’re back with another Member Moment Monday. This like week like to introduce to the only male in the boat, Chris our steersperson extraordinaire.

We interrupt Member Moment Monday to bring you Medal Monday- or in this case Woodal Monday. Lots of firsts on Saturday. It was Kathy’s first regatta, Amanda’s first time calling, Allison’s first time steering at a regatta and Mandy & Vanessa’s first Inlet Spring Regatta.

And just like that the first regatta of our season is over. We did our final race in 57.63 and came in 3rd in the A Division. Thanks to Amanda for calling and Allison for steering. And thanks to for an amazing day.
