Toolbox Talk Tuesday: Ladder Safety 🪜

A quick standard check before you step up today! Falls remain one of the most common workplace injuries, but choosing the right equipment and using it correctly keeps everyone grounded and safe.

🗝️Key Safety Steps:

- Select the Right Tool: Ensure your ladder is rated for both your weight and the job requirements. Never use metal ladders near electrical lines.
- Inspect Before You Climb: Check rungs, feet, and rails for cracks, grease, or wear. If it’s damaged, tag it out immediately.
- The 4-to-1 Rule: For extension ladders, set the base 1 foot out for every 4 feet of height to the support point.
- 3-Point Contact: Always maintain three points of contact (two hands and a foot, or two feet and a hand) while climbing.
- Keep Centered: Never overreach—keep your belt buckle between the side rails.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is designed to help protect workers—but only when it is properly selected, maintained, and used.

Before starting a task, take a few moments to inspect your PPE:
✔️ Check for damage, wear, or defects
✔️ Ensure equipment fits properly
✔️ Confirm it is the correct PPE for the task
