Hockey season is fast approaching
Sharp skates. Better skating.
Every hockey player should understand three things about the equipment connecting them to the ice:
1. Speak up when your skates do not feel right.
If turning or stopping feels different on one side, tell a parent or coach. You are the one on the ice, so you need to communicate when your edges do not feel reliable.
2. Take care of your blades before and after every skate.
Keep your skates dry, protect the blades with soft soakers, check your edges, and remove the footbeds after skating so everything can properly dry.
3. Know your hollow.
A deeper hollow provides more grip, while a flatter hollow provides more glide. As you grow and improve, you can adjust your hollow to match your size, ability, skating style, and preference.
Everything starts with your skates.
