💝 This week wraps up my Wednesday evening yoga classes for the summer! I feel so grateful to share this space with people who want to practice moving their bodies outside their day-to-day routines while also inviting rest, stillness and breath awareness into their lives.
We use a lot of props in our classes. In some postures they invite more ease, in others they add more stability or strength. Here, we practiced stretching the neck, allowing shoulders to soften down, while adding some pressure to the base of the skull- a common area that holds tension. (Please try under the guidance of a trained movement/body practitioner ☺️)
💁🏻♀️The fun part of teaching yoga is being open to learning new ways of accessing these traditional postures while also putting your own spin on them. It all comes back to intention.
Thanks for joining along and I look forward to meeting you back on the mat in September 🤍

👋 Hey! Wanted to pop on and let you all know about a 4-week series I’ll be offering that starts next Monday, 12:30-1PM, called “Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation.”
✏️ Fun fact! Over 14 years ago when I was in Physio school at DAL, I defended my research proposal “The Effects of an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program on Chronic Low Back Pain.” The concept of a mind-based tool helping a seemingly physical experience wasn’t clearly understood or accepted at that time. From my own experience with meditation and yoga, I knew personally of the mind-body benefits these practices could have. Fast forward to present day where Mindfulness is widely incorporated into many avenues. Thanks to progress in its research, we can now understand the physiological changes that happen in the brain and body, objectively, as well as the qualitative improvements people report experiencing in their life with consistent practice.
🤔Curious to learn more? This 4-week program will be offered in person, or live, through Zoom with recordings provided. Recordings only is also an option. Email: [email protected] to register or ask more questions!
🌲 P.S. As much as I’d love to be offering this near the water as shown, it will be held at my Studio on Main St. 🙂

✨ 10 years of running “Alison Bowie Physio & Yoga Therapy” ⁉️ it’s hard to believe this much time has passed. Here is what stands out:
- Bravery - to take a chance on myself and my passions
- Burnout - from people pleasing and a lack of boundaries
- Joy - from meeting so many wonderful clinicians, teachers and clients
- Balance - of work and personal life
- Responsibility - to learn from my mistakes
- Fun - in being creative and trying new things
- Community - staying connected and giving back
It’s been a journey ya’ll! Can’t wait to see what the next 10 years bring my way 🥹🫶🏼 Gratitude being sent far and wide!
