Biography of the Instructor Beatriz Gil Albertelli
A pioneer of Los Angeles Salsa in Seville, she had her first contact with Salsa in Turin in 1998, the year she was invited to join the teaching team at the “Bruno D.L” Salsa School in Turin. This was thanks to her dance training and having grown up in a family of dancers: Manuel Gil, a “bailaor” and Flamenco teacher, and Jeannette Albertelli, a Classical dancer. However, her professional experience began earlier, in 1993, as a Sevillanas teacher, an activity she continued in various academies in Seville. At the same time, she completed her training as a Fitness-Aerobics instructor with honors from the Spanish Federation of Aerobics and as a Ballroom Dance instructor with O.R.T.H.O.S.
In 1999, she returned to Seville and introduced the much-appreciated Puerto Rican Salsa from Italy through various workshops. That same year, in collaboration with other instructors, she created the “Movida Salsera,” teaching first at “Sala Chicote” and then at the large “Palenque de Sevilla,” until she and Pepe Puerto founded the “Luna Park” school. Throughout these years, she continued to develop her knowledge with the great Salsa masters: from Jayson Molina, Stacey López, Palladium Mambo Legends, Tropical Gem, Johnny Vazquez, Agustin Williams, Rogelio Moreno, SuperMario, Manuel Mascarell, Jhesus Aponte, Juan Matos, Frankie Martinez, Tito Orthos and Tamara, Hacha y Machete, Adolfo Indacochea, Carmen Lorente, Sandy Ramos, Susana Montero, Candy Mena and Shaka Brown, to the great Eddie Torres.
Additionally, she complemented her training with Argentine Tango, mainly under the guidance of Alejandra Sabena and taking classes with Miguel Angel Zotto and Osvaldo Zotto. She participated in numerous Salsa and Tango shows in Andalusia, collaborated as a Salsa DJ, and has been a regular presence at major Salsa Congresses since 2001. This is all combined with professional teaching in various Dance Schools: Antonio y Marisol School, Alicia Vega School, Salsa VL of Huelva, Isla Mágica Pavilion, Sala Latino, Sala Tequila, La Compañía School, Casino School, Julia Robles School, Muevete School, until she founded her own School, “Circulo de Danza de Sevilla.”
In September 2007, she settled in Lisbon, collaborating with various Dance Schools: Artist, White Lounge, Barrio Latino, Mirage Beach Club, 1001 Danças, Woman Fit, teaching Lady Styling, Latin Rhythms, Sevillanas, Salsa, and Musical Interpretation.
She developed her activity as a Salsa DJ in Seville (Spain) and as "DJ ESSÊNCIA" in Barrio Latino, Teatro da Luz, EDSAE, Club Carib, Alto do Moinho, Mirage-Odivelas, all in Portugal, as well as in World Salsa Congresses in Spain, Portugal, Angola, and Puerto Rico, and in dance halls in Paris, Coimbra, Lisbon, Seville, Luanda, and Puerto Rico.
Today, she lives near Fredericton and resumed her Salsa and other Latin rhythms classes, such as Bachata, in January 2024, aiming to continue for many more years.

*Do you want to know more about me as a DJ?*
Here you are:
I was born and raised in Seville, Spain, in a family dedicated to dance. My father was a Flamenco teacher, and my mother was a Classical dancer. However, it was many years later, during one of my trips to Italy, that I discovered and fell in love with Salsa. From that moment on, my devotion to it grew continuously until I became a teacher. My studies also expanded to other rhythms such as Cha-cha-cha, Merengue, and Bachata, which I champion as part of our Latin culture. Nonetheless, it is Salsa, in all its expressions, eras, and origins, that excites and fulfills me in every class and DJ night.
Due to my profession, I dedicated myself to studying all the information I could find about music and dance, their variations, concepts, and structures, to be able to transmit and explain them to my students. However, I quickly concluded that Salsa was much more; it was a way of life where we communicated our essence daily, without musical, political, social, or economic borders, where we enjoyed life with the joy that its roots convey to us. This way of living the dance has definitely helped me connect better with the dancers, feeling what they feel from their first steps. It is for them that my music plays, and it is for them that I learn as much as I can every day and give my all.
Similarly, I was taught from a young age to value the timelessness of Music, which allows us to move from one decade to another, appreciating a richness sometimes unrecognized by trends that occasionally settle in the past and other times delve into the most commercial. This characteristic, also present in Salsa, makes me admire artists from the most immortal to the most current, without rejecting any eras or styles. Therefore, I strongly defend the dedication of today's musicians and their promoters, who strive to continue giving life to Salsa, recovering its timeless sounds and revitalizing them with new proposals to reach the ears of the future.
2011 was undoubtedly very important for my musical culture and a reward for my dedication, as I had the opportunity to work as the Official DJ at the 15th Salsa Congress of Puerto Rico, alongside wonderful colleagues from whom I learned immensely. I was able to meet the Great Living Musicians of Salsa and witness their work and effort to keep this genre alive. That is precisely, for me, the "Essence" of Salsa: a feeling of commitment and dedication that awakens in the music lover and the dancer, something that transports us to the soul of our Latin Culture and that we convey with love in every DJ selection.
I will always be grateful for the support of a charismatic Portuguese, João Graça, without whom I could not have experienced those moments of learning, to DJ Gabriel, an unparalleled master and inspiration, and to all my students who have always supported me and shared in the great events of my life.
