794

That’s how many people walk through the doors of the Fredericton Intercultural Centre every single day.

Last week, our CEO Jeff Foster joined the panel at the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce’s Inclusive Hiring in Action event, hosted by AvenueNB and Mentorability. He didn’t start with policy. He started with people.

The woman three weeks into life in Fredericton, nervous but showing up for her first English conversation class. The teenager who found a youth program where no one asked him to explain himself. The father filling out a job application in his second language, helped by a volunteer who was once exactly where he is.

“794 isn’t a statistic. It’s 794 versions of that same moment — someone deciding to walk through our door.”

Earlier this year, the Fredericton Intercultural Centre received the Mark Wafer Award for Excellence in Business from the Canadian Association of Supported Employment. But as Jeff said, the real measure of this work isn’t the door people walk through once. It’s who they become once they’re inside.

When we say we are spaces for community, connection and celebration, we mean it. Inclusion isn’t a buzzword here. It’s our DNA.

Quotes above are excerpts from Jeff’s speech. Read the speech in full in the photos. 📖

Thank you to the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, AvenueNB and Mentorability for bringing this conversation to the table. 💙

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at The Cultural Centre! 🍂

As we head into the long weekend, we're taking a moment to give thanks for the incredible community that fills our spaces every week: our tenants, partners, sponsors, volunteers, and every guest who walks through our doors. You are what makes this building a place for community, connection and celebration. 🧡

Please note that The Cultural Centre will be closed on Monday, October 12 for Thanksgiving. We'll reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, October 13.

Wishing you and your loved ones a warm, restful, and delicious Thanksgiving. 🦃🥧

What a day at The Cultural Centre event space! 🎉

Yesterday started with Inclusive Hiring in Action, presented by Avenuenb MentorAbility New Brunswick and the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, a morning focused on building more welcoming, inclusive workplaces across our community.

After a quick room reset, The Cultural Centre and the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce brought Community Connections: Networking Skills and Speed Networking to life. The room was full of conversation, new connections, and plenty of Speed Networking Bingo cards getting filled in.

FLO Motion Productions was also on site capturing attendees' elevator pitches on camera, giving everyone a chance to walk away with a polished video introduction to their business.

A huge thank you to our sponsors GardaWorld Futurpreneur and MaxWell PRO Real Estate and to everyone who came out, shared their skills and made new connections.

This is exactly what our space is for: community, connection and celebration. 💙

It is inspiring to see employers, community leaders, and job seekers come together at The Cultural Centre to talk about building workplaces where everyone has a fair shot. Conversations like these are exactly why our spaces exist: to bring people together for community, connection, and celebration.

Thank you to Avenue NB, the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, and everyone who joined us. Here's to more inclusive workplaces across Fredericton!
