This past Sunday, the U13 Recreational Division hosted its 2nd Annual Recreational Selects Game at York Arena. The arena was filled with friends and family who came out to enjoy a great game of hockey while celebrating the values that make hockey so special: sportsmanship, work ethic, attitude, character, and skill, all while supporting important initiatives in our community.

In a game where the score truly does not matter, teammates became adversaries and adversaries became friends. The game stayed close throughout, and in a great display of respect for the game, the players finished the contest penalty free.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the event raised $858 for the Brendon Oreto Foundation, whose mission is to ensure no child is left on the sidelines due to financial barriers. Families also donated an incredible amount of non-perishable food items, enough to fill an entire SUV, in support of Greener Village.

A sincere thank you to the players, coaches, volunteers, and families who made the day such a success and who continue to represent our community well!
