Marysville Lanes / Satters Scrappers ...
The Marysville Lanes Bowling team dominated the lanes in New Brunswick from 1978 to 1983 winning 4 provincial Senior Men's A candlepin titles over that six year span and finishing second the other two years – losing in a rolloff in one year and by a total of five pins the other. In 1979 they became the first team in provincial bowling history to hold all three challenge trophies, the Marvin, Hatfield and J*p Blake at one time. They mounted 32 straight defenses of the J*p Blake Trophy between March 25, 1978 and November 3, 1979. They also began a run of 53 straight defenses of the Hatfield Trophy from March 3, 1978 to November 2, 1980 setting records along the way. Their team triple mark of 2,008 during a J*p Blake Challenge in 1979 fell six short of the world record at that time. Team members over that time included Bill Cook, Don Leger [Captain], Eldon McGarrigle, Jim Shanks, Hal Peterson and Stirling "Doc" Thompson (died 2012). Other members during that time were: Ned Boyle, Bill Delucry (died 2018), Ron Hay, Ted McIntyre, Lane Murray, Melvin "Ike" Murray (died 2015) and Wayne Thomas. Inducted into the Fredericton Sports Wall of Fame in 1997. Photo: Back Row: Hal Peterson, Doc Thompson, Jim Shanks & Eldon McGarrigle. Front Row: Ted McIntyre, Don Leger & Bill Cook - Daily Gleaner)
