I'm going to offer one more of these sessions for 4 weeks at Lokamotion studio, Thursdays at 6:30pm . As some of you know I've been studying Somatic Experiencing the last 3 years (one more module and I'm done!) as well as a deep dive into core and pelvic floor work by finally doing my Pilates training last fall, as well as Restore Your Core professional training the last 9 months. While I've always noticed how much better I feel when I include Pilates in my practice, it was the regression of the exercises in to smaller more manageable movements that was a game changer for body and mind.
In this class we will dial things way back both to better work with our compensation patterns and to address the overwhelm that can sometimes go along with the intense sensations that can show up with exercise.
There will be lots of opportunity to rest and regulate using somatic practices, while slowly increasing our nervous system capacity through movement.
This group will be kept very small, intentionally, with just 6 spaces available.
Registration at the 🔗 in my bio or check my stories.

3 spaces left for this 2 hour practice, Saturday April 25th! We will start with some somatic skills to foster a deeper connection to your body, orienting to the body with your own hands on touch and working with the felt sense. Followed by somatic movement, gentle therapeutic yoga, breath, and self-massage with the therapy balls. The practice will be completed with a restorative savasana and sealed with some sound work.
This is an experiential workshop, though I'll bring in some tidbits of nervous system education, as well.
Class will run 2-4pm, Saturday April 25th at Brookside Wellness Centre.

I'm officially finished of my training with ! This training made me a better teacher and have me a better eye for detail when watching people move. Plus so many assessment skills and really great exercises, concepts etc. and most importantly, how to pull out all together really nicely in one on one work. I started my first RYC inspired class last week and I've already had great feedback! Highly recommend!

I love doing one on one movement work with people! Currently I'm adding a lot of really great assessments and movement tools /practices /explorations from the work I'm learning with and the training. Yesterday I was able to use some of those skills to help a client navigate some of their bodies unique patterns and show them ways of working with, rather than against their body. We approach this work from a place of curiosity and exploration and it can be quite fun! Let me know if you wanna give it a go!

This class is a great balance of effort and ease. Unwinding , mobilization and some sneaky strength in a flow based practice followed with slow somatic work and a well propped restorative savasana. Join me at the cozy - class starts this Monday January 5th!

Slow dog walks in the woods and intentional movement to finish off the year. These final hours of the year I'll spend finishing up the method portion of the training with before I head in to the teacher training portion of the training in January. I love having something slow and steady to focus on this time of year. Something to carry me through. Rather than a big shift or change that doesn't feel aligned.
For me the new year is the spring. I think nature best decides these things. When we orient to the rhythms and cycles of the natural world we start to notice the resistance of the bodymind to push through this time. No shade to those that want/ need the external pressures to make big shifts or changes at this time, that's how some of us roll, and it is a legit strategy for some to not get bogged down by the weight of winter.
I'm learning to lean in to the weight more and more each year. That's what feels aligned for me. A subtle protest of the Gregorian calendar and its attempt at disconnecting us from ourselves. Can you feel the weight, the heaviness, the urge to turn inward? And also the little flicker of light. Nature titrating the generosity of the sun slowly and steadily now that the solstice is complete. Both can be felt at once if you're paying attention. The dark heaviness of winter and the gentle flickering light at its core.

I love the low hanging sun of November. Though it looks pretty different out there this morning after the first significant snowfall overnight, I suspect we have more sunny woods walks ahead before winter gets real.
Walking in the woods for me is a big part of how I stay centered. Over the last few weeks I've been deep diving into the core, our center. For me it's been a real noticing of the impact of working on my center, on feeling centered. Sounds a bit weird? Have you ever noticed what happens if you're having an off day and you try to balance in a yoga class? It doesn't usually go so well. Feeling off balance mentally or emotionally can make you physically feel off balance. Try to notice next time you're wobbling about!
In my studies with in my course there been a real shift in my center. Spending so much time with and embodying my , noticing the impact on my day to day movement and more deeply connecting to the relationship of the breath and the core has shown me just how important nurturing this relationship is, and the impact not only on the physical body, but the mental and emotional body as well. The course is primarily focused on thy physical and yet if you're paying attention, you can't help but notice how it shifts your whole being.
The more we build connection to our center through movement and breath the more we can notice what throws us off center. Why our belly tightens in some situations, and softens in others. What makes us feel tall and strong and when we feel a sense of collapse and a need for support. Paying attention to my body and the bodies of many others and its sometimes subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) communication over the years has been a real gateway to the deeper inner workings and stories of body, mind and spirit.
For me through all my practices and studies over the years focusing on the body has taught me more about the soul than I could read in any book.
