ππ§ββοΈπ§ββοΈπ§...Exciting announcement coming soon!!
Good morning!
Yesterday the Province announced changes to Step 1 in their Path Forward plan coming into effect Monday Feb 8, 2021. From what we understand, this means we should be able to get our swimmers back in the water sooner than expected! Before announcing any firm plans, we will be in touch with Alberta Artisitc Swimming to ensure our club is following all necessary protocols. Thank you for your patience so far, and as we navigate these developments.
Thank you!
GP Synquatics Board
Good afternoon everybody!
Thank you for your patience while we navigate this upcoming season!
For the 2020/2021 season, things will look a little different than in previous seasons.
The first half of the season will be run more like a 'camp', 9 weeks long, with an anticipated start date of October 13 and concluding December 12, 2020. We are working with the Eastlink Centre to see if we can have our annual Winter Watershow, and that will be communicated at a later date.
The second half of the season will require a second, separate registration, which will open in December, but will hopefully be more 'normal' than the first half - beginning right after New Year's Day and running through to the first weekend of May. Details will be announced as they become available for the second half.
Visit our website here for more details: http://gpsynchro.com
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in contact with either our Board members or Head Coach, or send a message via FB messenger.
Thank you!!
Watch for registration coming this weekend!! Details will be announced here and on our website!
Good news!! We are still planning on running programs this year!! With covid, planning is just a bit more complicated with all the regulations and restrictions getting sorted out.
We're currently hoping to start a bit later for a Fall mini session, and hopefully open up to a full winter session for January-May.
Keep checking back here for updates βΊπ¬π³
Stay tuned!
Keep your eyes out for updates on the upcoming season!
There have been some big changes, and the current situation with COVID has made some of the planning and organization for the new year slightly more complicated and behind than typical years.
Please bear with us, and we will be sending out an update on programs soon!
It's been quite the year so far, between COVID, closures, social adjustments, slow re-openings, and the rain...
But, so many beautiful local business to brighten up our day!

Please read - an update from the Board
**ππππ§ββοΈ A VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM THE BOARD π§ββοΈπππ**
Good afternoon parents,
I trust you are all well despite the crazy circumstances of the past few months. Brighter days ahead!!
I, on behalf of our president and board members, am reaching out to you today with an update regarding the club and our status for next season.
As of right now, we do not know when the pool will reopen, however, we would like to see the club ready to swim as soon as it does.
In saying that, we want to share with you some challenges that the club is facing.
Unless one more coach is hired and we elect new boards members to run the club, we regret to say that GP Synquatics will not exist next season; no matter when the pool facilities open. Currently, we have only one coach available for next year and all but one member of the 2019-2020 executive has resigned. As per regulations set by AAS (Alberta Artistic Swimming), the club needs at least two coaches and an official board needs at least three people.
If your swimmer is interested in returning when it is possible to do so and, like us, you would like to see the club continue, we ask that you please consider volunteering your time as a new board member. The club needs you!
We also ask you to please let us know if you are aware of anyone that might be interested in applying for a coaches position. We have been diligently trying to find new coaches, but have not been successful so far.
As for how the structure of the club will look should it return, we are still uncertain at this time. A competitive team is unlikely and there may only be an Intro group. Should we find a second coach and we get the necessary number of registrations, a pre-competitive group may be added. Therefore, it will be considered a recreational club only. It is also possible that we may not start up until January.
Again, unless we are able to meet the AAS requirements stated above, there will be no club at all!
Please reach out and let us know as soon as possible how and where you can help our club survive!!
Sincerely,
President and Board
GP Synquatics Club
Good afternoon all you fantastic Mers!
As a few of you might know, I (Coach Cassie) will be off in the Fall, as a new little merling will be joining our family! π
That being said, and with the COVID situation and uncertainty of when precisely the pool will be re-opening, along with a shortage of coaches and no board members continuing, the GP Synchro Club is looking at options on how we might keep our club running. It is possible that we may not start programs until 2021, when we have some potential for a few more coaches to be available, but it may be that the club will not open with a competitive stream.
If any of you amazing followers have some ideas, suggestions, or would like to be more involved in the club to help keep it going, please let me know! β€οΈ
Thank you all for your support π€
With the recent temporary closure of the Eastlink Centre, ALL Mermaid classes, fundraisers, and events (as part of the GP Synchro Club) are on HOLD until further notice.
Thank you for your understanding.
Please visit our website for additional information: http://www.gpsynchro.com/
Effective Friday, March 13th 2020 Eastlink Centre and Coca Cola Centre will be closed to the public until further notice. This is a precautionary measure as Alberta Health Services has not confirmed any cases of COVID-19 in Grande Prairie as of this release.
At Community Knowledge Campus, the health and well-being of our members, staff and community is of the utmost importance. Earlier today the Province recommended that all large gatherings such as sporting events and community events of more than 250 people should be cancelled. For this reason, the City has decided to close Eastlink Centre and the Community Knowledge Campus until further notice. We are committed to providing recreation programs and activities in a safe and healthy environment.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
UPDATE: The Collision Reporting Centre at the Eastlink Centre is open, use the south doors. Please do not go to the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment to report collisions.
Put your fins up "In The Ayer"!
Mermaids always have more fun!
Say "Starfish!"
Just FYI - Please keep you eyes out on the page and for any emails about cancelled practices if temperatures drop below -30 (before wind) by noon of practice day (Coaches still have discretion if the temperature is borderline).
Brrrr!
Practice for Tuesday, January 14, 2020 is still a go! Please bundle up, ensure you have a toque and stay warm!
On that note, did you know that the Club has a Cold Weather Policy? it can be found here under "Club Policies": http://www.gpsynchro.com/content/club-regulations
On days where the weather is borderline, the Coaches will decide if practice is to go ahead or not on that day.
Thank you!
