2026 Nickel City Open Recap
First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for making this event a huge success. Everyone who came to support and compete this weekend, all of our hard working volunteers, our sponsors Prodigy Disc Canada 🇨🇦 Thought Space Athletics MandoDiscGolf Three Farmers Foods Discover Sudbury L-Ex Media Towel Tag and of course Twin Stacks Golf Course for believing in us and hosting an amazing event!
Make sure this event is on your list next year; it will only get bigger and better! We had so many positive reviews on the course and updates made; with several drawing comparisons to the DGPT and its potential to host events of that caliber!
The combined pressures of performing well on the course I designed and TD’ing the event, made for a challenging tournament. I went in with no expectations on my performance knowing that the added stress would likely impact my play. I managed to hang in there and 3rd place was within reach. With a one stroke deficit on the final hole; I had to make a do or die aggressive play to carry the entire out of bounds golf fairway from a less than ideal landing zone in an attempt to score on the demanding island green. It looked great out of the hand but ultimately pushed too deep and got caught by a blocker tree. Had to settle for 4th place.
Appreciate all of the support as we Nickel City Disc Golf work toward making this event the pinnacle of disc golf competition in Ontario!
