Still over the moon with our win!!

However, the Adanac Ski CLUB won, not the Adanac Ski HILL. The ski club is a not-for-profit alpine racing club, which trains at the Adanac Ski Hill. The hill, which is city owned, did not win this prize. Just so we’re clear ✌🏻
Thank you for the love and support!! We are over the moon 🎉🎉
@mackenzieinvest was so impressed and touched by both of our clubs’ campaigns and stories, that they stepped up and gave us BOTH $50,000! What an amazing contribution and investment in the future of ski racing in our country 🇨🇦
Congratulations team and to @kimberley.alpine.team!
SO SO happy and excited to share the news ❤️🎉🌟

Yes, we are on the edge of our seats! The judges in the Mackenzie Top Peak Contest have selected a winner!

HOWEVER, the winner will not be revealed until next Monday via Mackenzie’s social media and through a press release.

6 more sleeps!!
The Adanac Ski Club would like to thank Mackenzie Investments ❤️
As a Premier Partner of Alpine Canada, “(they) launched this contest because Canada’s ski communities need support now more than ever,” said Barry McInerney, President and CEO, Mackenzie Investments. “Mackenzie has an incredible legacy of supporting skiers and their communities across the country for more than 20 years. Mackenzie’s Top Peak builds on that legacy in a fun and safe way and brings skiers together to rally around their hills.”

This contest has not only given us the opportunity to showcase how much community ski spirit a little hill in Northern Ontario has, but has also generated so much excitement about skiing in our community and beyond, that we are receiving daily inquiries about how to join our race program.

And that was the whole point of this contest wasn’t it? Mission accomplished 👊🏻

So, we will be over the moon tomorrow if we are crowned as Canada’s Top Peak! But if we aren’t, we will still consider ourselves winners (with a few tears)🌟 We don’t think there’s ever been so much buzz about skiing, in a Northern Ontario hockey town ⛷⛷thanks to this contest.

Thank you Mackenzie Investments for investing in the future of ski racing in Canada 🇨🇦❤️

If you’ve been around the Adanac Ski Club for a few years, then you’ve probably heard of, or met Cameron Crawford. Cameron grew up in Toronto and raced for Georgian Peaks in his younger years. He moved to Sudbury 22 years ago, and works as an Chartered Accountant, and is a Managing Partner at MNP.
When his kids, Grace and George were old enough, they entered the ski program with Adanac Ski Club. Cameron started coaching with the club 11 years ago, and then he joined the Board of Directors a year later. Having extensive knowledge of the ski racing world, and being an amazing coach, it was only a natural fit for him to become President of the Club for many years. He continues to serve on the ASC Board - as a Past President - as his knowledge, fortitude, and passion for ski racing has made Cameron a pillar of strength and wisdom through the years.

Cameron has also been (for 10 years) and continues to be a Northern Ontario Division Alpine board member.

Cameron’s passion and love for skiing and competing is obvious and contagious ❤️ If you’ve been lucky enough to be coached by him, Cameron has a special way of connecting with his athletes, in a way that brings out the best in them; all while commanding commitment and hard work, in a fun and respectful environment 🌟

Cameron comes from a well-known ski racing family: his sister is a former ski Olympian, his brother-in-law is in coaching hall of fame and he is uncle to the now famous Jack Crawford, Olympic Bronze medallist, and uncle to World Cup skier Candace Crawford 🇨🇦

The Adanac Ski Club would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for the many years of dedication Cameron has given. His leadership, his wisdom, his commitment and passion to athlete development, and his calm presence throughout the years have been an invaluable asset to our team.
Sometimes thank you is just not enough ❤️

The Mackenzie Top Peak Contest is in the final judgement stage 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
This is our current race headquarters. This tiny dilapidated building, sits at the bottom of Adanac Ski Hill, and currently houses our gates, netting, race bibs, signage, two-way radios, drills, timing equipment and ski tuning essentials. You’ll notice in these pics two small rental trailers - we rent those because our race shack is too small to store all of our essential race and training equipment.
Our current race shack is rotting, full of mold, full of mud and is currently flooded. This happens every spring because it was originally built in a low lying area decades ago.
In this building, our Race Timer and Announcer cannot see the hill, and they both sit in an area which is designed for only one person.
A new, and already City approved design has graciously been donated by a team of architects and engineers: Tim James at @3rdline.studio, Dave Gatien at Tall Pines Engineering, Terry del Bosco at @tulloch.inc , Greg Petryna, and SNC Lavalin. It will be large enough to hold all of our equipment, allow space for our athletes to gear up and down in to offset the congestion in the public Vale Chalet, allow for video review with coaches, allow for our Race Timer and Announcer to have the room they need to work as well as give them a view of the hill, and so much more. Permits have been approved, all we need now is enough funding!
$50,000 from @mackenzieinvest will go a long way in allowing us to break ground this spring, and for this project to be complete for the 2022-2023 season!
The small club with a big heart has rallied our community beyond any of our expectations. We all know our hill is small, but we have proven that our love for the sport of ski racing, and our love for our ski racing community runs deep, dating back many many generations.
We look forward to helping the current and future generations of ski racing in the Sudbury community by providing our ski racers with a great headquarters to call home ❤️
