Meet Lisa!
Lisa’s passion for pregnancy and childbirth began in 1999 when she was pregnant with her first child. After reading Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin, she was inspired to birth her daughter at home (long before midwifery care and homebirths were common in Northern Ontario). Since then, she’s spent 15 years supporting families as a counsellor (and birthed another baby – who is now a teenager! – at home).
Lisa trained as a doula through Bebo Mia and joined Meg as part of Northern Mama in 2017, where she supports mothers through counselling and birth support. A strong belief in informed consent and informed choice form the foundation for all of the work she does with new and expectant mothers.
Lisa is honestly the perfect addition to the doula team here at Northern Mama and we can't wait for you to get to know here even better ❤
You can "hang out" with Lisa Lou and the rest of the Northern Mama Team Thursday night at 8:30 right here on our page for our Virtual Launch Party!

My little people have grown into big, happy and healthy tweens now. One of the things I'm most grateful for is that I've never used harmful chemicals in our home.
I learned early on that essential oils can successfully replace all cleaning products and can even have beneficial effects on moods and immune support.
I'll be at the Main Library tomorrow to talk about some of my tips, tricks and favourite ways of incorporating essential oils in our home.
See you Monday at 6:30pm

Hey mom's! Here's an amazing resource for natural support before, during and after baby. It just packed with useful information.
If you'd like to watch this, let me know. I'm creating a lending schedule because I want as many people as possible to benefit.
Wow! Amazing educational resource that goes way beyond pregnancy and child birth.
I highly recommend watching this. We can watch it together or you can borrow it for a few days. Totally worth it!

The Blissful Bump Update Week 31: Why Would a Doula Need a Doula?
If I'm having a pregnancy "freak-out" I call her and if I wake up in the middle of the night with ideas about my birth preferences I send her an email.
