As we start to close out September and jump in to fall season, I’d like to share more of our hearing journey. As many of you know, Owen was born bilaterally deaf.
September is Deaf Awareness Month, and this one is especially meaningful to our family. We’re so grateful for the newborn hearing screening here in Ontario, which helped us discover Owen’s hearing loss early. We’re also very thankful to SickKids in Toronto for acting so quickly and supporting us every step of the way with Owen’s hearing loss and ensuring he was a candidate for cochlear implants. With their help, Owen received his cochlear implants at 8 months old. We’ve been so happy with his progress using the Cochlear sound Processors. Watching him experience the world of sound has been incredible and we’re so proud of our little guy and all he’s accomplished in this short time!
