Olympic & 2X World Champion Heinrich Burger was born on this day in 1881. Though Burger is most remembered for winning the very first Olympic pairs title in 1908 with partner Anna Hübler, he was also a medallist at the World & European Figure Skating Championships in singles skating.

Olympic Medallist Kitty Carruthers was born on this day in 1961. Kitty and Peter Carruthers won the U.S. pairs figure skating title four times in a row, from 1981 to 1984.

Olympic Bronze Medallist Ethel Muckelt was born on this day in 1885. Muckelt was an accomplished singles and pairs skater, winning the silver medal at the World Championships with partner Jack Ferguson Page in 1925. During the roaring twenties, Muckelt and Page won the British pairs title nine times. After her competitive career, Muckelt served as a judge for many years.

2X Olympic Gold Medallist Ekaterina Gordeeva was born on this day in 1971. Gordeeva and her partner Sergei Grinkov were four-time World Champions, three-time European Champions and three-time World Professional Champions.
