On this Canada Day 🇨🇦, the Halifax Rowing Club acknowledges that our clubhouse and the waters we row upon are located in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq People. The Northwest Arm and the Halifax Harbour are part of Kjipuktuk, meaning "The Great Harbour." For thousands of years, these waters have been stewarded, navigated, and protected by the Mi'kmaq. As rowers who find joy, community, and purpose on this water, we recognize our deep responsibility to care for it and to respect the land that sustains us. 🍁
