Did you know Lisa Ross from Mahone Bay has spent the past 10 days coaching athletes in the World Sailing Emerging Nations program in Fortaleza, Brazil?
She’s been the ILCA 6 & 7 coach at the 2027 World Championships test event. Congratulations Lisa on being selected to coach a great group of athletes!

Sail Nova Scotia is now accepting applications from host communities, marinas, and yacht clubs interested in hosting our Mobile Sailing School for a week or two this summer.
The program travels across the province with all the equipment and instructors to introduce up to 12 youth a week to sailing.

More Grandstand tickets and Boat flags for the Canada Sail Grand Prix in Halifax will be available January 23! All the details below!

Following high demand, SailGP, the most exciting racing on water, has announced that
additional Waterfront Grandstand tickets for the 2026 Canada Sail Grand Prix | Halifax, as
well as a limited supply of Bring Your Own Boat flags will go on sale on Friday, January 23 at
SailGP.com/Halifax.

Halifax Harbour will put a spotlight on Canada’s ocean playground when it hosts the seventh
stop of the 2026 Rolex SailGP Championship from June 20-21, 2026. Thirteen teams will
race in identical 50-foot foiling catamarans faster than wind speeds over 100km per hour.
With the world’s fastest and most technologically advanced racing just meters from the
shore, the Rolex SailGP Championship will provide Canadian racing fans with a front-row
seat to speed and innovation as it redefines the sport of sailing for generations to come.
In the Waterfront Grandstands, for CAD$145, fans can enjoy elevated grandstand seating
in the heart of the action, perfectly positioned in the race stadium to catch every moment,
along with live commentary and big screens, plus food and drinks available for purchase.

As part of the Bring Your Own Boat (BYOB) program, fans will secure the ultimate
front-row seat on the water, with prime positioning for flagged vessels within the SailGP
Exclusion Zone. The weekend boat flag will include Exclusion Zone access, a souvenir
flag, a comprehensive briefing and live-race commentary. BYOB flags for vessels up to
39 feet will be valued at CAD$715, 40-59 feet at CAD$1,235 and 60-79 feet at
CAD$2,380.

Additionally, limited tickets remain on sale for Georges Island, where fans can enjoy
exclusive vantage points with harbour views, ferry transfers to the island and arrival
picnic packs.

This will be the second time Halifax hosts the Canada Sail Grand Prix, having previously
sold out the 2024 edition of the event and driving an economic impact of USD$45 million to
the city, supporting local businesses across the region.

des billets supplémentaires pour la tribune sur le bord de l’eau (Waterfront) du Grand Prix de
voile du Canada | Halifax 2026, ainsi qu'un nombre limité de drapeaux pour Apportez votre
propre bateau, seront mis en vente le vendredi 23 janvier sur SailGP.com/Halifax.

Le port d'Halifax mettra en vedette le terrain de jeu océanique du Canada lorsqu'il
accueillera la septième étape du championnat Rolex SailGP 2026, les 20 et 21 juin 2026.
Treize équipes s'affronteront à bord de catamarans à foils identiques de 50 pieds, capables
d'atteindre des vitesses supérieures à 100 km/h. Avec les courses les plus rapides et les
plus avancées technologiquement au monde à quelques mètres seulement du rivage, le
championnat Rolex SailGP offrira aux amateurs de course canadiens une place au premier
rang pour assister à la vitesse et à l'innovation, redéfinissant ainsi le sport de la voile pour

Dans les tribunes sur le bord de l’eau (Waterfront), pour 145 dollars canadiens, les

des écrans géants, ainsi que de la nourriture et des boissons disponibles à l'achat.
Dans le cadre du programme « Apportez votre propre bateau » (BYOB), les fans pourront
s'assurer une place au premier rang sur l'eau, avec un emplacement privilégié pour les
bateaux signalés par un drapeau dans la zone d'exclusion SailGP. Le drapeau de la fin de
semaine comprendra l'accès à la zone d'exclusion, un drapeau souvenir, un briefing complet
et des commentaires en direct sur la course. Les drapeaux BYOB pour les bateaux de
jusqu'à 39 pieds seront évalués à 715 dollars canadiens, ceux de 40 à 59 pieds à 1 235
dollars canadiens et ceux de 60 à 79 pieds à 2 380 dollars canadiens.

De plus, il reste encore quelques billets en vente pour Georges Island, où les partisans
pourront profiter de points de vue exclusifs sur le port, d'un transfert en traversier vers l'île et d'un panier pique-nique à leur arrivée.

Ce sera la deuxième fois que Halifax accueillera le Grand Prix de voile du Canada, après
avoir déjà affiché complet pour l'édition 2024 de l'événement et généré un impact
économique de 45 millions de dollars américains pour la ville, soutenant ainsi les entreprises
locales de toute la région.

In the i420 class (Female Two Person Dinghy) Lorelai Freeman (Lunenburg, Lunenburg Yacht Club & Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron) teams up with Victoria Carroll (Halifax - RNSYS).
In the 29er class (Female Skiff) Frieda Smith (Halifax, -RNSYS) and Laura Eisenhauer (Halifax, LYC & RNSYS) will represent Canada.

Congratulations Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron on bringing this event to Halifax!

We are very excited to announce that, 'the IODA Executive Committee chose Halifax, Canada to be host the 2026 Optimist North American Championship. The championship will take place from May 21 – 28 at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron (RNSYS).'

As Chris Tully, Director of Sailing at RNSYS, notes, 'we have a proud tradition of developing top Optimist sailors, and we look forward to hosting this world class event in 2026.'

World Sailing Race Management Seminar ⛵ Séminaire sur la gestion des courses de World Sailing

Vancouver, B.C., and the Vancouver Rowing Club delivered a warm welcome over the last weekend to participants attending the World Sailing Race Management Seminar. The country was well represented by those in attendance from across Canada, from Nova Scotia to British Columbia. Other countries represented included Great Britain, Hong Kong and the United States. World Sailing course conductors for this seminar were Anne Malledant-Vadre (France), Fabian Bach (Germany) and Peter van Muyden (Canada). Thank you to the candidates for attending!



Séminaire sur la gestion des courses de World Sailing

Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique, et le Vancouver Rowing Club ont réservé un accueil chaleureux aux participants du séminaire sur la gestion des courses de World Sailing présenté la fin de semaine dernière. Le pays était bien représenté avec des participants venus de partout au Canada, de la Nouvelle-Écosse à la Colombie-Britannique. D'autres pays étaient également représentés, notamment la Grande-Bretagne, Hong Kong et les États-Unis.
