Sometimes weāre rigid and unwilling. Sometimes we flow and bend. Finding the balance is our lifeās work.
And these are the life lessons we take from our mat out into the world.
Happy Sunday friends xo

Yoga is no doubt an art form. But itās less about the shapes of the body and more about how those shapes form your thoughts and perspectives.
I dislocated my pelvis in 2015. Not from yoga. But the mental toughness yoga taught me is what got me back to health. It took 2-years to begin practicing uneven weight bearing postures again (like the balances pictured). You gotta be grateful for where youāre at. Hardships and all.
āIt is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self, and intelligence.ā ~ B. K. S. Iyengar

Sometimes you have to weave little bits of what feels good into the nooks and crannies of life. Thereās not always time for your best yoga practice but a little bit always makes a difference. š«

PS- This is one of my favourite poses for working with anxiety. It looks easier than it is. So be patient with yourself.
Keep your feet together and up on toes as much as you can. Open knees wide while keeping a focussed balance, your back straight, shoulders down and a relaxed face. Yoga breathing to keep anxiety at bay.
Send me a picture and Iāll help if you need correction or support.
My body feels like lead these days. Do you have those days?
Could be all the stress of covid and quarantine and all that surrounds it just bubbling under the surface. Where you donāt feel stressed per se, but nothing feels right either. Sleep is messed up. Skin and hair doesnāt look right. Feeling a little antsy most of the time. These are all signs.
Stress hides in the tissues. The last place it finally shows up is externally after it has ravaged our insides. I clung to yoga in my 20ās after discovering how much it helped and healed me in ways didnāt know I needed. Sometimes even 5 minutes helps. Even in ways you donāt know you need.
Keep on hanging in. Lead feeling bodies and all. See you on the other side soon xo
Sometimes life is heavy.
Sometimes it feels unbearable.
Sometimes it feels good to move and try and shift some of the sadness. And sometimes you canāt do anything with grief except sit with it and let it settle deep in your bones.
After such gut wrenching tragedy here in Nova Scotia, be kind to yourself and practice whatever your body needs to feel relief. Thereās no right way to process grief.
Know that the sadness will lift, and it will feel better. And our remembrance will be just as strong. Healing doesnāt mean forgetting.
If you are struggling and need support, reach out.
Sending love xo

Itās never about the shape of the pose. š§āāļø
Itās the mental focus that it requires. Itās the edge where your mind tells you stories about your limits and capabilities.
Our yoga practice is a continual state of finding that edge and then gently nudging it into quiet with the breath and sensation in the body.
Sometimes edges feel good, sometimes not. Always good for you.
Happy Saturday š
