Honouring an Era: A Farewell to Our President and Vice President
Today marks a deeply emotional milestone for our baseball association, as we announce the retirement of our President, Ryan Maggio, and our Vice President, Jeremy Gera. Together, these two individuals represent almost 40 combined years of volunteer executive service, a staggering legacy that has shaped the very fabric of our league.
Twelve years ago, Ryan took on the task to foster a love for the game, build a stronger community, and ensure that every player who stepped onto the diamond had a safe, fun, and competitive environment to grow. From managing behind-the-scenes logistics and endless scheduling to navigating complex league decisions, Ryan has consistently worked early mornings and late nights out of pure love for this sport and our community.
After 12 years of unwavering dedication, tireless service, and immense passion, Ryan is stepping down from the role of President.
Retiring alongside the President is our Vice President, Jeremy, who has dedicated an astonishing, nearly 30 years to our executive board. It is impossible to express the impact of almost three decades of service. Jeremy has been the institutional memory, the tireless workhorse, and the heartbeat of this league. From coaching and field maintenance to registration and league logistics, Jeremy has seen generations of players grow from T-ballers into adults, leaving an indelible mark on hundreds of local families.
To lose either of these leaders would be a major transition; to lose them both at once truly marks the end of an era. They did not just run a sports association—they built a baseball family. Thank you for always stepping up to the plate.
And beyond the logistics, it is their integrity, guidance, and mentorship that leave the deepest mark.
Ryan and Jeremy, thank you for everything you have done for East Mountain Baseball, and the pure love you poured into this community. You both leave big cleats to fill, but you leave this association stronger and healthier than ever. We wish you both nothing but the absolute best in your well-deserved retirement from the executive!
But this isn't good-bye! It is simply, "see you on the diamonds, Coach"!! Ryan and Jeremy will both still be seen around the park, helping out when they can and continuing their roles as coaches.
As we pass on the torch to our newly elected President and VP, Adam and Caleb, we would like to leave you with this message from Ryan.
