The grey skies weren’t a damper on the Ladies that participated in the Ubuntu Fundraiser Golf Event today. Lynn and the ladies had a lot of games, laughs and fun while raising money for a great cause.

It’s been a great season for insect activity. Carly was on top of regular scouting, along with feedback from Wayne who’s on the greens everyday. The first slide is the Lo moth caterpillar, whose black spines can feel like a bees sting. They can quickly defoliate a branch in 2 days before turning into a moth. If the plant is established full recovery is expected next spring.

The next two slides are related to BTA (Black Turfgrass Ataenius). This was our biggest challenge this season with two destructive phases. The second phase gave us the most difficulty.

Japanese Beetles seem to only cause damage to plant material in our gardens. Regular soapy solution sprays seem to manage the damage. Happy to have the insect calendar soon coming to an end so turfgrass can make a full recovery to prepare for winter.
