And the afternoon session has started!

And we're off! Another full day of fall safety- this time we're in the Kingston area.

I am so incredibly proud of this team of performers and horses. We had an incredible weekend at the Niagara Renaissance Faire. We put on some great shows, the horses were excellent and everyone handled the things we couldn't control as well as we could have.

Thank you to my riders, who were great horsemen as well as great performers. Thank you to my ground crew, who were pivotal in keeping horses fed, watered, happy, and clean and ready to go when we needed them.

And thank you to the team that made sure I was fed and watered so that I could keep worrying about the horses.

Also, huge, huge thank you to .event.rental for allowing me to bring Neo out to this event. He's Mr Dependable and a crowd favorite.

It's a big ask to borrow a horse to go offsite for days at a time, and I'm absolutely privileged to be allowed to do that with Neo.

It's always a huge compliment to me to receive compliments on both my students and my horses, and they all did me proud.

Someone has a birthday today! Hope's First Love, otherwise known as Hope, Hopey, Hopester, Mama Bear and Bug is 19 today.

The matriarch of my little herd, mother to 2, herd mom to all, she was the first horse I owned, and 16 years later I'm still pretty happy with the purchase.

Never one to want much attention, she took herself for a quiet day at the spa to get a full body mud wrap.

For the year of the horse, rather than joking about chestnut mare stereotypes, or about having to wear it out until it loses the will to express an opinion, my hope is this:

I hope we can all find ways to be more like the horses that we love.

Be welcoming.
Be curious.
Be goofy.
Be more in the moment.
Be quick to forgive.
Understand that everyone's role in the herd has value, and that we're all better when we look out for each other.
