Sharing the below story of one of our SBJ Dancers. Way to go Louise!
KINDNESS KNOWS NO AGE
We are sharing an inspiring story about our youngest donor. Meet Louise, the granddaughter of our dedicated long-time Auxiliary volunteer, Kathy Smart. At just 8 years old, Louise has shown remarkable generosity and has made a significant impact on our community.
For her recent birthday, she chose to request money instead of gifts, with the intention of donating half of the total amount received. Louise chose the West Lincoln Memorial Auxiliary. She used half of her birthday gifts along with some of her own savings and donated $200 to our Auxiliary! This isn’t her first contribution, as we recall her kind gesture last year when she donated $150.
It’s inspiring to see such a young person take the initiative to support others, and it serves as a reminder that no one is ever too young to make a difference in their community.
Her selflessness and dedication to helping others at such a young age are truly commendable. Louise serves as a wonderful reminder that kindness knows no age.

From Dance exams to the bright lights of Vegas!🌟
Several of our dancers were nominated through their SDTA exams in April to take part in the SDTA North American Scholarship. This is a full-day event honouring J.L McKenzie and Elspeth Strathern, which includes a written theory paper, a master class, a tribute to J.L. McKenzie dance, and an optional choreography section.
This year, Myelle and Sydney represented our studio, joining dancers from across North America to challenge themselves, connect, and celebrate Highland dance at its best. Their passion and professionalism on and off the floor were a joy to watch💙
We’re also so proud of our teacher Madelyn, who sat her Membership Highland exam. We wish her the best of luck as she furthers her dance knowledge and teaching journey!

Join us for our Ballet for Highland workshop with former champion dancer and RSOBHD judge & examiner, Kate DeGood. In addition to highland, Kate studied ballet from the ages of 7-18, as a member of the Alma College Dance Company and performed in several professional productions including the Nutcracker as a community cast member by audition with the Carolina ballet.
Designed specifically for Highland dancers, this workshop will focus on essential ballet fundamentals, helping you enhance your balance, posture and precision for competition-level performance. This zoom class will be divided in 3 main parts (barre, stretching and floor work), plus some discussion of Nationals movements that share ballet terminology.
This class is being offered to the worldwide Highland community via "pay what you can" donation starting at $10 USD. Donations directly benefit our non-profit initiatives. FTDT members receive automatic access to all live workshops. To learn more about FTDT visit: ftcdance.com/ftdt
