The first walleye of the open water season was an absolute GIANT at 15 inches!! 😆😆

A super snappy 7 degrees out on the lake this morning but a really nice little sole trip out for the first fish of the summer 🐟 ☀️

I realize this page has been a ghost town all winter long due to the absolutely atrocious season we had. Hopefully everyone has made it thru the winter months just fine and are ready for summer!! ☀️

Good luck to all open water fisher-people on opening weekend!! If you are venturing out on any of the lakes, be safe, have fun and catch a fish or ten!

Well it looks like an extremely dismal start to the 2026 ice fishing season on Lesser Slave Lake. With almost 3 feet of snowfall over the past month the ice is in EXTREMELY poor shape. Looking out over the lake, you wouldn’t think that a few steps out you would be breaking thru 6 inches of snow into 10 + inches of water! It’s really bad 😥

We are very much hoping that conditions might change as we get later into January but it is not looking good right now.

We will be sure to keep all our very loyal and very appreciated clients informed as the season goes on, and very hopeful we can still have a fishing season out there.

At this point we are DEFINITELY advising ⚠️ extreme caution ⚠️ and not recommending anyone go on the lake, especially off the Hilliards Bay access.

Well the weather sure took a turn for the worst the last few days and winter came back to the lake ☹️

Darryl and his two sons have been our longest supporters at the shacks, and in 9 years we have never made the time to fish together...until this weekend 😊
We got his family together along with our girls and spent an extremely enjoyable few hours on the lake today, hammering on some walleye, with the odd pike and a dandy perch thrown in for good measure 😁

Nice to see a few burbot finally showing up! It's been a pretty slow season this time around for these ugly delicious fish 😁 so it's great to see a couple of our guests this week having some success 🐟

Jamie and Jen have been staying with us for many years and not only do they always send us some awesome pics, they always bring us some of the most amazing beef jerky you'll ever find 😋

They just spent 3 nights in shack # 4 and it appears they did ok...😁 when the going got tough in the shack they went out in search of fish and were able to find a few!

Well it's definitely been on the slow side for fishing which is kind of odd for this time of year 🤔 but we've still had some happy people out at camp this last week.

Ken's big pike was definitely a highlight!

Manny and Eva came out to fish camp this morning to spend a few days. With the beautiful warm weather 🌞 and + temps, they did a little exploring around on the lake and it sure looks like it's paying off for them!! 🐟
