The Dr.Duncan Murray Recreation Centre is home to a swimming pool, hot tub, play pool, steam room, bouldering wall, squash and racquetball courts, and 2 ice arenas. The Skateboard Park and Spray Park are adjacent to the centre.

The bouldering wall has officially reopened with brand-new routes, and it’s ready to climb! 🎉

Re‑routing helps keep the wall challenging, fun, and interesting, and we can’t wait for you to check out the fresh problems that have been set.

Come give the new routes a try any day from🕘 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Or join for Toonie Lunch Climb daily 🕛12 – 1 p.m. or Adults Only on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 🕢7-9:30 p.m.

The annual Claire Jones Memorial Swim Meet returns to the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre Pool on Saturday, November 21, 2026.

Hosted by the Hinton Stingrays Junior Lifeguard Swim Club, this special event honours the late Claire Jones' passion for lifeguarding and lifesaving sport while bringing together competitors from across Alberta.

👥 Volunteers Needed! Help make this community tradition a success. Whether you can assist with timing, marshalling, or event setup, your support helps make the event a success.

The bouldering wall at the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre will close tomorrow (October 23) for scheduled re-routing and will reopen on October 27 with fresh new routes to explore. 🔧✨

Re-routing helps keep the wall fun, challenging, and engaging for climbers of all skill levels.

✅ The courts will remain open and available during regular hours throughout the closure.

The bouldering wall at Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre will be temporarily closed from October 23-26 for re‑routing. 🔧

Re‑routing is done regularly to keep the wall challenging, fun, and interesting for climbers of all levels—and we’re excited to freshen things up!

✅ Good news: The courts will remain open and available during regular hours while the wall is closed.

One of the highlights of Hinton's 70th Anniversary Celebration was opening a time capsule that had preserved memories, stories, and artifacts for 25 years.

Now, it's our turn.

We're creating a new community time capsule that will remain sealed until Hinton's 110th anniversary in 2066, and we'd like your help filling it.

🏊‍♀️ Aquatics is almost ready to welcome you back!

The annual pool shutdown is wrapping up, and after five weeks of maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and facility improvements, the Aquatic Centre will reopen TOMORROW, October 10, with regular operating hours.

💦 The pools are filled.
🔧 Maintenance projects are nearing completion.
🧹 Cleaning and setup activities are in their final stages.
✅ Staff are preparing for reopening.

Over the past week, crews have been hard at work completing the final projects needed to prepare the Aquatic Centre for reopening. ✅ Anti-slip tiles have been installed, 💦 pool basins have been filled and balanced, 🔧 heat exchanger maintenance has been completed, and 🚪 door repairs have been finished. With deck cleaning, staff training, grouting, painting, and waxing now underway, the facility is entering the final stages of preparation as we get ready to welcome swimmers back.

A big thank you to our Aquatic and Facility Maintenance teams for their hard work throughout the shutdown, and to our users for their patience and understanding while this important work was completed.

🎉 We're excited to welcome everyone back to the pool on October 10 and look forward to seeing swimmers, families, and fitness users back in the water! 🏊‍♂️🌊

🏊 Pool Shutdown Progress: Week 4 Update

The finish line is getting closer! The annual pool shutdown is entering its final week, and we're excited to share that water is back in the main pool as preparations for reopening continue. 💦

🔧 This week, we completed the following tasks:
✅ Rinsed all pool basins in preparation for filling
💦 Filled the main pool
📦 Cleaned and reorganized the on-deck storage rooms
⚙️ Reassembled and filled the sand vessels
✅ Installed a new main pool filter pump and a new variable frequency drive (VFD) for the main pool filter pump
🚪 Replaced and welded rusted door frames (still in progress)
🎨 Finished painting inside the changerooms and blue storage walls
🔨 Continued tile work throughout the facility

📅 With just one week remaining in the shutdown, we're looking forward to welcoming swimmers back when the Aquatic Centre reopens on October 10.

🙏 Thank you for your patience as our Aquatic and Facility Maintenance teams complete these important upgrades and maintenance projects. We're almost there!
