How is it September already!? The late summer season is here and inviting you to ground down as we transition to Fall. This month I am offering that opportunity in a Tuesday night Hatha VInyasa class at the Hope Rec Center.
This class combines the traditions of hatha yoga with the breath-guided movement of vinyasa yoga in a well-rounded practice for the body, breath, and mind. You can expect movement, a few strong holds, breath practice, voice activation, and meditation.
Join me Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00 pm in the mezzanine at the Hope Rec Center on 6th Ave. Only $6 a class.

What an honor it's been to host the second annual Yoga in the Park in Hope this summer. I was so worried that changing the day and time to mid-morning on Saturdays would be too hot and limit how many people came, but Mother Nature provided cooler temperatures, cloud coverage, and occasionally a bit of sun and misty rain nearly every week!
What's more important is that you all showed up, week after week, to ground down, breathe, and move with our beautiful teachers, Gerry, Sarah, Kaitlyn, and Mel. We saw so much growth in the program this summer and it was so inspiring to see people of all ages on their mat coming home to themselves.
π A huge thank you to Hope Health & Well-Being, Fraser Health, and Advantage Hope for supporting this program. Without their generous funding, we would not be able to provide this free service to the community.
π If you joined our newsletter program, you can expect one more email from us this summer with a kind invitation to offer your feedback on the program.
π¨ If you are not apart of the newsletter yet and would like to receive an email alert when the 2027 season will begin, please send a private message with your email address and I will add you.

Sometimes when you lay down for a yoga nidra session you fall asleep. In fact, sometimes you might fall asleep and other times you might lay there wide awake wondering why you're doing this right now. Both scenarios, and all possibilities in between, are ok and are there to inform your yoga and your life. You still receive the benefits of the practice and it's important to remember that it's exactly that - a practice. A practice of coming home to yourself, of stillness, of mindfulness, of remembering your radiance.
If this sounds like something you'd like to try, I'm sharing yoga nidra classes at the Hope Rec Center this summer on Tuesday night's from 7-8 pm. Please bring a pillow and blanket. I'll see you there.

What's her secret? One of my favorite meditations is that of looking at something beautiful in nature and asking this very question. I sit and ask it over and over again while observing my thoughts. Eventually secrets are revealed.
Take, for instance, this rose. What is the secret to her beauty? Try to notice the answers without searching for them. Let them come to you. Sometimes it may be obvious to you and the answer(s) may present themselves quickly, and other times you might sit for an hour and only uncover one of the many secrets to life and beauty.
When I meditation on this rose, I am reminded of the impermanence of things. This beautiful flower will bloom for a short time before wilting, dropping its petals, and transforming into a rose hip. Impermanence is the only guarantee in life, and so we must make the most of it while we can.
I also think of eating good food. If you like to garden, like I do, you might know that roses love to eat - that's how to grow so beautiful. Everytime I feed my roses, they produce new buds and more flowers.
So many the roses secret is to enjoy good food and live life to the fullest? What secrets have you uncovered in nature?

How is your summer going so far? If it feels like it's been flying by, you aren't alone. Every week I get to Thursday and I think "Wow, it's Thursday again!? Where did the week go?" That's why I'm offering spaces to breathe, to slow down, and to reconnect this month.
Whether you need a moment to find your center, connect mindfully with nature or your breath, or are looking for a supportive community, I have a space for you.
Here's where you can find me this month:
Monday 6:15 am is Vinyasa Express at the Hope recreation center; $6
An intermediate flow class designed for all you early risers, like me, to ignite your inner fire and step into your day grounded.
Tuesday 7:00 pm is Yoga Nidra at the Hope recreation center; $6
A restorative exploration of non-doing and deep rest. If Savasana is your favorite part of a yoga class, give this a try.
Thursday 6:00 pm is Mt Meditation on Thacker Mountain; $30
A guided moderate level hike with a different mindful meditation at the summit each week. Come breathe in that fresh mountain air.
Saturday 10:00 am is Yoga in the Park at Memorial Park in Hope; FREE
A fun community oriented event for all ages co-taught by myself and one of Hope's fabulous yoga teachers. This is a great opportunity to share in community and enjoy downtown Hope.
My wish for you this month is that you take a moment to slow down just a tiny bit more and really savor the beauty of the season.
Get in touch to tell me how I might be able to support you this August.
