We have reached the pinnacle of light in the northern hemisphere - the sun is spending the most amount of time in the sky, summer has arrived and the depths of winter are a distant memory!

The path leading up to this point may have been dark and uncertain at points, but youโ€™ve made it here. Allow the sun to heal you, to show you the things youโ€™ve been hiding from in the darkness, and perhaps guide you to where feels right to go next. Make the most of this time, sit and take stock of the last six months and think about where you might like to go next.

The last three months for me have been the pinnacle not just of a seven year journey back to myself after trauma and heartbreak.. the road was long and tough, with a lot of winding and backtracking, but yoga has been my constant companion throughout. I know I wouldnโ€™t have made it here without it.

Yoga is not just bending our bodies into crazy contortions and trying not to fart. Yoga - for me - is the work I do off the mat. The movement and the postures are just what I do to get myself into the right headspace to actually do the real work. Yoga is learning to trust my instincts. Itโ€™s embracing the fear of wandering off the beaten track, and carving my own path. Itโ€™s choosing to live presently and wholeheartedly each and every day. Itโ€™s celebrating the light and the darkness. Itโ€™s choosing life. Itโ€™s laughing, itโ€™s dancing in the rain, itโ€™s panting as I climb up a massive hill.

The perspective Iโ€™ve found over the past six months has been more profound than I can put into words. I have found gratitude and respect for myself and the life I choose to live every day. All I can wish for you as you head into the second half of the year, is the same.

Sending you blessings and love this solstice ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;
And frogs in the pools singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white,
Robins will wear their feathery fire
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;
And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.
Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree
If mankind perished utterly;
And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn,
Would scarcely know that we were gone.

This beautiful planet we call home is a gift.

We are part of her; made of the same atoms that make the mountains and the seas and the soils. When we take her for granted, use up her resources, burn her forests and pollute her seas we use and burn and pollute ourselves.

This earth has survived many lifetimes but we only get to live this one. If we take her gifts for granted, we will lose them and in the war against Mother Nature we will lose.

This Earth Day, take a few moments to appreciate what it means to live on an abundant planet full of life, water, nature, love, beautyโ€ฆ and ponder whether there may be more you can do to lessen the impact you are making upon that planet. How can you take steps now to lessen the footprint you leave behind so that future generations may enjoy the beauty and magic of this giving planet, just as we have and do?

Three moments of serenity, taken years apart.

Photos 1 & 2 were taken on opposite sides of the same lake in the Lake District, 7 years apart. Returning to that place and remembering the person I was when I had last walked those paths was a wild experience. So much has changed, yet so much is still the same.

Photo 3 was taken a few weeks ago in Vancouver, Canada. On the cusp of beginning my new life, starting my overseas adventures again, almost 9 years to the day since I packed my bags and left for New Zealand. The feeling of arriving never changes and again I was taken back in my mind to the person I was when I left for that trip. How I am simultaneously the same and completely different. Moments mirrored in time, with a lot of learning and life in between.

All of these photos capture what looks like a moment of flight; my body physically floating above the earth and my mind and spirit flying free around me, lost in the moment.

What you donโ€™t see is the preparation that led up to these moments. The struggles, the questions, the uncertainty. Neither do you see the years of life lived and setbacks overcome inbetween, nor the ungrateful crash back down to earth as I lose my balance after each one.

But there is a thread that connects them all together; in each moment I was fully present and connected with myself as I am. Without labels, without barriers, without worries. Suspended for a moment, at one with nature and free from the distractions of a loud and busy mind. Just the breath, the wind, my body and me.

This time here in Canada is slowly breaking me back open after years of surviving, struggling, growing and learning. I see now the single thread that connected all these moments together and that led me here: my soulโ€™s desire to live wild and free. Every day I get a little closer to living entirely by my instincts and I get a little closer to myself and my true purpose here on this earth.

Living in yoga has brought me here and I am eternally grateful for the broken version of myself who turned up to that first class in Christchurch 9 years ago, ready to heal.

Take flight and the world will catch you. ๐Ÿฆ…๐ŸŒŽโœจ

Iโ€™d forgotten how powerful it feels to commune in a candlelit room full of beautiful people, moving together as one.

During class tonight I glanced across in the middle of the sequence and caught a glimpse of the 9 incredible women in the room with me, noticing their majesty, strength and power in a moment that took my breath away.

Yoga is so much more than moving your body alongside your breath. So much more than stretching or balancing or chanting โ€˜Omโ€™. Itโ€™s so much more than crossing your legs and closing your eyes and trying not to fart.

Yoga is a coming together.
It is a community; a place you go to find yourself and discover a family who will always catch you when you fall; a place and a feeling that knows how to lift you up and give your heart strength.

Moving together in this way isโ€ฆ utter โœจmagicโœจItโ€™s as if - during those short long moments of synchronised breath & movement - the barriers between us come down and our souls meet in a place beyond the physical. We experience such connection, such joy, such powerโ€ฆ and it becomes so obvious in those moments that the outside world (and all the pressures, responsibilities and stress that come with it) is just a mere distraction from the truth of the beauty of our existence.

What a gift it is to have this day to live and to breathe and to move as one. What a gift it is to share in these moments of beauty every day.

I am so so grateful that life put me on this path, and that I had the courage to follow it all those years ago.

Itโ€™s been a little while since I introduced myself on here, and Iโ€™ve got some lovely new followers, so thought Iโ€™d pop up a little get to know me post!

โœจMy name is Vicky and Iโ€™ve been teaching yoga since 2019.

โœจIโ€™m a country girl born and raised and nothing brings me more joy than time spent outdoors. I love walking, swimming and everything in between!

โœจIn 2022 I got my Aerial Yoga teacher qualification and have become a little bit obsessed with flying. ๐Ÿฆ‹ I spend a good 50% of my teaching time upside down and I love it!

โœจI am an enthusiastic and terrible amateur climber ๐Ÿง—โ€โ™€๏ธ Spend most of my time ripping my fingers apart and falling off the wall ๐Ÿ˜‚

โœจOne of my biggest passions is dance. Iโ€™m part of a contemporary dance group here in Suffolk - spending time moving with them brings me such joy and release! I couldnโ€™t choose between being on the dance floor and on my mat. Theyโ€™re both heavenly.

โœจI am a traveller at heart and am on the cusp of a big move to Canada. Iโ€™m heading to Vancouver in March and canโ€™t wait to set off with the spirit of adventure to see where life might take me!

If thereโ€™s anything else youโ€™d like to know, please donโ€™t hesitate to ask! Iโ€™d also love to hear more about you and your passions - pop me a comment below or send me a DM so we can get to know each other better. Having this opportunity to connect with such a beautiful community of people on here every day brings me so much joy. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

๐˜ฝ๐™ก๐™ช๐™š ๐™ˆ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™™๐™–๐™ฎ

Today is statistically the most depressing day of the year (in the northern hemisphere, at least).

Light levels are still very low, finances are tight, the buoyancy of the festive season has passed and the reality has hit that there is still quite a bit of winter left to go. Add on top of that a cost of living crisis and an incoming cold snap and things are bound to feel gloomy.

There will be lots of people giving all sorts of advice today on how to overcome feeling low, and Iโ€™m sure a lot of it is worth trying, but what I would say first and foremost is that itโ€™s ok to have blue days. In fact, it would be strange if all your days were good. So, perhaps the first step in overcoming the blues is to accept that theyโ€™re here - at least for today. I personally like to see those days as a gift - bringing about a lesson that needs to be learned or some old stuck trauma or emotions that need to be worked through. Accept the emotions and they will sooner pass.

The only other thing I would say is that movement helps, connection helps and laughter helps too. We are a communal species, forced increasingly to live insular lives spent online and inside.

If youโ€™re going to do one thing to boost your mood this week, let that one thing be to go for a walk outside.

If you can, walk in company (furry friends count as company too!).

If itโ€™s dark, stand and look at the stars.

If itโ€™s cold, notice your breath dancing in the air.

If itโ€™s raining, notice the sound of the raindrops on the plants and buildings around you.

If you canโ€™t go outside, close your eyes and take yourself there in your mind. Open your arms wide, lift your face up to the sky and remind yourself what a gift it is to have this existence.

We will never have the gift of living this day again. Perhaps it was blue - and itโ€™s okay if it was - but that doesnโ€™t mean tomorrow will be blue too.

Sending love from my corner of the internet to yours.

So, I have a little announcement to makeโ€ฆ

After a lot of soul searching and several years of hard graft, indecision and struggle, I have decided to take myself back on the road again. For those of you who donโ€™t know, I am a lover of travel and 7 years ago I returned to the UK after two years living in New Zealand. I only ever intended to stay for a year or two, and yet here I am 7 years later.

On March 6th (2023) I will be flying to Vancouver (Canada) in search of adventure. ๐Ÿ I donโ€™t know exactly how long Iโ€™ll be going for, but I do know it will be long enough that I am ridding myself of most of my possessions, selling my car and buying a one-way ticket!

This sadly means that I will no longer be able to teach my current in-person classes based in Suffolk at and . ๐Ÿ˜ข I will continue teaching my full class schedule (swipe across for my most up-to-date timetable ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝ) until 24th February, so we can share some time on the mat together before I leave ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’•

I am setting foot firmly into the unknown, with no set plans when I arrive other than to follow my feet and test my balance the best way I know how! So if any of you have any connections for me in Vancouver, or suggestions of places to go / ways to continue sharing my love of yoga as I travel then please DM me or comment below.

I am hoping to be able to offer zoom classes once I am set up over there, and I am planning to build a pay-to-access catalogue of all my previous Zoom classes before I leave as well. So Iโ€™m not abandoning my beautiful community completely ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

I would also love if you would come along on the adventure with me. I will be posting updates on here and also through my blog - so if youโ€™re not already signed up to my newsletters make sure you do so before I leave!

For those of you whoโ€™d like to read the full story, you can read my most recent blog post for a longer explanation of my decision (Iโ€™ll pop a link in my stories or you can click through the link in my bio).

Big love,

Vx

By some miracle, we made it to the sixth month of the year and the Summer Solstice is only a week awayโ€ฆ the longest day in the northern hemisphere and the official marker of the start of summer, many of us have been desperately counting down the days until this date arrives.

Now that the time is almost upon us, it feels like it has arrived suddenly and ferociously with these gorgeously warm days weโ€™ve been enjoying recently. But letโ€™s not forget those months of struggle through a dark and wet winter of long grey days. This week I will be revisiting the intentions I set for the first half of the year and taking stock of all that has happened, preparing to renew or set fresh intentions for the second half of the year to come.

Some of my may know that June 21st doesnโ€™t just mark the Summer Solstice, but also International Yoga Day. The communities at and .haus are coming together to celebrate these two special events by saluting the sun at our special venue in Tannington.

Come and join us from 6.30-9.30pm next Tuesday 21st June to complete 108 Sun Salutes in aid of Concern for Ukraine charity - 100% of proceeds will be going to this important cause.

Pledge ยฃ18 - bookable through matspace.co.uk. Weโ€™ll share some delicious food afterwards, too!

Canโ€™t wait to see you there ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝโœจ

๐™Ž๐™ฅ๐™ง๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™€๐™ฆ๐™ช๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ญ
The vernal equinox has arrived; day and night are in equal length, the sun is directly over the equator and from here we officially enter the season of light. โ˜€๏ธ

The past week has been really heavy with full moon energy; a hesitance, a resistance sitting in the air. The full worm moon arrived with us on Friday and today we officially enter Spring. Change is in the air and can be seen all around us - trees coming back to life, lambs being born, daffodils poking their heads out of the ground. That stuck energy has dissipated and now it is time to begin moving forwards again.

Today, reflect on the lessons of winter: remind yourself of all youโ€™ve survived and been through, process the losses and celebrate the achievements (note: simply surviving is a big achievement, you didnโ€™t need to do more than that). Once you have processed the lessons learnt, maybe you will begin to notice the little saplings appearing from the seeds of intention you planted in the depths of the darkness.

Maybe you dreamt of a new start for yourself, perhaps you thought of making a change, maybe you decided that this would be the year you put yourself first.

Whatever those seeds were, notice them starting to grow, decide which ones you are going to continue to nurture and let grow and allow yourself to flourish.

Just as in nature, we hibernate through winter, we are reborn in the spring and we come to life in summer. This is your re-birthing period; you can choose to be whoever you want from this point on. Remember who you are when the world is full of light, but also remember who you dreamt of being whilst you were sitting in the midst of darkness, unable to see the light.

Honour that person and you canโ€™t go wrong.
