This is one of our favourite targets!

We currently have two SRT GriffIn 3D Targets in stock here in BC 🇨🇦

CAD$459+tax each

An almost mythological bird, the protagonist of fairy tales and rhymes that are lost in the mists of time, the Griffon is one of the largest and most majestic European vultures. The most important population in Europe is in Spain, to follow is France and Sardinia.

The perfect reproduction of anatomical details and superb coloring make the grifin target from SRT, a masterpiece without equal on the market.

I (Katie) missed posting yesterday as it was another busy and long day, so here’s my catch up of Thursday & Friday!

I’m not too upset to report a final ranking of 6️⃣th place in the Traditional Bow division (women) at the Yankton 2026 World Archery 3D Championships! 🇨🇦

Following getting through my first elimination match on Wednesday, on a surprisingly chilly and windy Thursday morning, I shot in the last 16 elimination match, vs Helena Osterlund (Sweden). I was way calmer and much more confident than yesterday and had a great start with an 11-10 (for which the 10 needed a tense judge’s decision). The next 3 targets also went in my favour & after two more average targets for me, I won 93-85!

Having now reached the last 8, I stayed on the field and went straight into another 6-target match against Jarmila Korabecna (Czech). Jarmila started stronger gaining a 5 point advantage over the first 2 targets. We matched in the middle, I gained 1 point on target 5 and went into the last target with me behind by 4. She shot a strong 10-8 and only a double 11 would have saved me, which I couldn’t pull off. So at that point, my competition was done!

On Thursday, there was a number of other Team Canada elimination matches taking place too, and all but one of our archers were defeated during their matches.

Andrea Wiens shooting compound shot very strongly to get through her two matches, the second of which came down to a one arrow shoot off! We were so excited to be able to watch her last couple of targets from the sidelines. Andrea was up against some terrible wind conditions that blew up just as she was coming up to full draw but she magnificently got the job done by hitting closest to the centre of the 11! 🥳 This meant that she advanced to the last 4, and after staying on the course to shoot another 4 targets, she will be shooting off in the Bronze medal match tomorrow!

Due to overall individual points totals, we had both a Women’s Mixed Team and a Traditional Mixed Team competing, but unfortunately both were defeated in the first round.

Overall, the final individual standings after completion of the individual elimination matches are:

Men’s Barebow
Jay Dukic-14th (⬆️ 2 places)
Grant Lockhart-29th
Eric Malebranche-31st

Women’s Barebow
Sabrina Van Der Giessen-23rd (⬇️ 1 place)

Men’s Traditional
Gent Zoto-19th (⬇️ 1 place)
Ben Roundell-27th
Marc Britton-29th

Women’s Traditional
Katie Britton-6th (⬆️ 3 places)
Trudy Dryden-10th (⬇️8 places)
Karen Demelo-25th

Men’s Longbow
Brent Phillips-Watts-22nd (⬇️ 1 place)
Jim Murphy-29th

Women’s Longbow
Miranda Sparkes-13th (➡️⬅️same)
Ellen Vander Hoek-18th

Men’s compound
Curt’s Meyers-14th (➡️⬅️same)
Curtis Mummery-27th
Blair St. Amant-28th

Women’s compound
Andrea Wiens-TBD! (But will be 3rd or 4th)
Sarah St. Amant-15th (⬆️ 2 places)
Monica Higgins-18th (⬇️ 2 places)

Today, we also enjoyed watching many bronze and gold medal matches, with the final target being a mountain goat up on a cherry-picker! 😵

Today was Day 2 of qualification and it’s the day you are seeded with archers who are ranked similarly to you. As I (Katie) finished joint 8th on Day 1, I was seeded with 10th, 11th & 12th placed ladies.

The format is the same; 24 targets and 48 arrows with everyone shooting a brand new course. I finished top of my group with 364, which overall put me in 9th place, missing out by 1 point on 8th place and getting a Bye through to the last 16.

So that meant a 6 target, 12 arrow shoot off against 24th place, Rikke from Denmark, which took place a couple of hours after the qualifying round. Despite having a few issues with form & my mental game, I felt very fortunate to triumph in that match, setting me up for the quarter finals tomorrow (Thursday morning).

Marc didn’t manage to climb up and out into the elimination pool today but nonetheless had a really great day and will be coming home with lots to work on.

Overall, Team Canada’s placings after Day 2 Qualifications were:

Barebow Men
🏹Jay Dukic-16th
🏹Grant Lockhart-29th
🏹Eric Malebranche-31st

Barebow Women
🏹Sabrina Van Der Giessen-22nd

Traditional Men
🏹Gent Zoto-18th
🏹Ben Roundell-27th
🏹Marc Britton-29th

Traditional Women
🏹Trudy Dryden-2nd
🏹Katie Britton-9th
🏹Karen Demelo-25th

Longbow Men
🏹Brent Phillips-Watts-21st
🏹Jim Murphy-29th

Longbow Women
🏹Miranda Sparkes-13th
🏹Ellen Vander Hoek-18th

Compound Men
🏹Curtis Meyers-14th
🏹Curtis Mummery-27th
🏹Blair St. Amant-28th

Compound Women
🏹Andrea Wiens-12th
🏹Monica Higgins-16th
🏹Sarah St. Amant-17th

This meant that Team Canada had a good number of archers make it through into the elimination matches. All categories held eliminations today for the top 24 archers. Rank 1 to 8 gets a Bye and rank 9 to 24 shoot off. One exception being women’s longbow whose eliminations are for the top 16 and don’t begin until Thursday.

Archers who now proceed to the Quarterfinals after wins today are:

Longbow Women
🇨🇦Miranda Sparkes (smaller pool for elims so begins tomorrow)

Traditional Women
🇨🇦Trudy Dryden (ranked 2nd so through on a Bye)
🇨🇦Katie Britton

Compound Women
🇨🇦Andrea Wiens
🇨🇦Sarah St. Amant

Compound Men
🇨🇦Curtis Meyers

Barebow Men
🇨🇦Jay Dukic

Not only are there individual matches to look forward to on Thursday, but there are two Teams matches!

The Mixed Women’s Team (Dryden, Sparkes, Van Der Giessen & Wiens) and the Traditional Mixed Team (Dryden & Zoto).

A truly special mention to Trudy Dryden for finishing today as the 2nd best Women’s Traditional archer in the world 💪🏼

Thanks to TYEE Archery for supporting our journey to the Worlds!

Day 1 of Qualification is done! The rain this morning was terrible, but thankfully (and in contrast with the forecast) it did pretty much stop after a few targets.

The single stringers started a bit later than the compounds, so for us the practice range was open for warm up, from 0830-0925. Once that’s over, we corralled into our shooting groups and head out to the course.

Mr & Mrs Outsyder were on different courses (barebow+women’s Trad on the “Missouri” course and longbow+ men’s Trad on the “Rushmore” course) and we ended up with different experiences. After 48hrs, Katie ended the day in a solid joint 8th place, while Marc ended in 29th.

Marc said “I have been asked about my day and what went wrong. Well, in a nutshell, not much. I had a minor equipment failure on the first target (bino strap coming loose at full draw/arrow release, causing a mis-shoot) which was minimal, but that’s all that really went wrong. My shots were strong and I’d make them all the same again, it’s just the results of them were sh*te with no pattern which didn’t give me anything I could fix. Barring something being wrong with the bow (which I doubt), it was all me. Either way, I’m frustrated with myself right now but this shall pass. Day 2 tomorrow and hopefully I can at least shoot somewhere close to my usual”.

The positions of Team Canada after Day 1 of shooting are:

Women’s Traditional - 28 competitors
Trudy Dryden-5th place
Katie Britton-8th place
Karen Demelo-26th place

Men’s Traditional - 36 competitors
Ben Roundell-21st place
Gent Zoto-26th place
Marc Britton-29th place

Women’s Barebow - 26 competitors
Sabrina Van Der Giessen-22nd

Men’s Barebow - 34 competitors
Jay Dukic-17th
Eric Malebranche-29th
Grant Lockhart-30th

Women’s Longbow - 20 competitors
Miranda Sparks-16th
Ellen Vander Hoek-19th

Men’s Longbow - 31 competitors
Brent Phillips-Watts-16th place
Jim Murphy-28th place

Women’s compound - 32 competitors
Andrea Weins-14th
Monica Higgins-16th
Sarah St. Amant-17th

Men’s compound - 39 competitors
Curtis Meyers-15th
Blair St. Amant-24th
Curtis Mummery-29th

After day 2 Qualifications are complete, the top 24 will begin shooting Eliminations (apart from
women’s LB which is top 16) and we will know if any of the teams have made the cut off. We have a busy day ahead!!

Gala dinner last night with Team Canada rocking the signature buffalo plaid. It was a joint event with the outgoing National Field archery teams and the incoming 3D Teams. Followed today by Official Practice, Equipment Inspections, Team Meeting and team photos. Tomorrow, we shoot! 🏹🇨🇦

If you’d like to follow along with live scoring updates, you can do so by clicking the Ianseo link; 0700hrs PCT for compound and 0800hrs PCT for all single stringers. We don’t know what’s going on outside of our own shooting groups until the end of the day, but you can keep up-to-date on everything as it happens!

Official accreditation this morning, then Unofficial Practice for 3D, while the Field team finals were happening. Bit of a buzz about the place as more and more 3D archers arrived from all over the world. It was great to see so many familiar faces!

After our final night camping in the rain, this morning we headed to the “World’s Largest Archery Center” which is where we’ll be spending the next week. We got chance to watch Team Canada’s Field team member CKR, shooting off in the last four of men’s Barebow, ultimately winning 🥉for 🇨🇦💪🏼
the final shot being a 50m target, high in the sky on a cherry picker 😵

We hung out, watched some Field finals and awards ceremonies and managed to get in some unofficial practice 🏹 We met up with team mates, begun reuniting with friends from all over the 🌎 and made new friends already 🙏🏼

Sunday is the Gala Dinner, which is usually always at the end of the competition. However, because this is a double world championship (Field & 3D), it’s in the middle of the two and for us 3D-ers it happens to be before our tournament.

Our hotel is right next to the Easton Foundation Archery Centre, making it all super convenient, which is so nice.
