This summer in Squamish, Ethan got on Heavy Fuel (5.13 R); Will Stanhope’s 2021 line in the Western Dihedrals that follows a series of cracks on the old aid route Stellar System.

After a chil, later than usual start, he cruised up to P4 to battle the crux; sending on his third go. He quested upward and pushed through three more 5.12s he’d never tried before—sending each one second try. In between there was dirty, spicy(R👻), adventurous climbing that kept things interesting.

With this send, Ethan joins the short list of ascensionists on Heavy Fuel.
Stay tuned for more news on what Ethan got up to in 2025!

The Daniels River Valley expedition 2025

Traveling by boat, ATV, then on foot, we made our way to the Daniels River Valley where we would spend 35 days with the goal of further developing the area. During this expedition we re-established approximately 7km of trail and built a new camp fit with a bear hang and benches, along with the first edition boulder guidebook that can be found pinned to a tree.

Our development wasn't just on the valley floor. Over 17 days Cameron, Mike, Taylor, and Carson put up a new route on the Red Alert Wall. The route is called TIME and goes at 5.10+ A2 Grade IV, 24 pitches 1,142m. Notably, this ascent was Mike, Taylor, and Carson’s first time on a big wall.

Another climbing duo, Nico and Henry, made the first known repeat of a route called Ego v. Mosquito on the Penguin Wall. Totalling 9 days on the wall (three of which they spent descending in a storm), their fast and light approach to this wet, north facing wall taught them how the wall got its name. And like the Red Alert team, this was their first big wall climb.

This expedition wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our friends on the ground, the Powell River community, and our sponsors who believe in our vision to develop a sustainable big wall valley.

What a night.🥹

Thanks to everyone to came out to our film night; with your help we were able to raise over $1k for the filmmakers!

One of our favorite parts of the evening was when stuck that massive dyno and the whole crowd *gasped*.. 😆🙏

Thank you to the filmmakers who reminded us that women are not meant to fit in a box. We are a force to be reckoned with! We hope you continue to make art and tell stories that show future generations what we are capable of.
