David Goggins Podcast takeaways:

⭐️ I listened to David Goggins Podcast “Develop a Strong Mindset” on my run last night and he talked a lot about how a morning routine makes or breaks your day. I 100% agree, the days I stay in bed all morning only to roll out and head straight to work…I feel s**tty. He talked about how hitting snooze or browsing your social media for an hour and staying in bed is the first fail of the day. There is no easy solution it is all mindset. As hard as it is you get up, get dressed, make your bed, and say to yourself “this is what we do now” and you go and get your first win of the day.

⭐️ You know when you workout or you’re on a long run and it’s cold your brain starts to say “nah this is stupid” “I don’t need to do this” … David Goggins talked about how success is seen in the s**tty things we have to do. Success is in the 80% part of our brain that wants to give up, instead tap in. Reach your full potential, do the s**tty things too.

⭐️ The last takeaway, was how he talked about when we show up to an interview we are fully prepared, dressed our best, and ready to perform at our best. Once we get the job we can continue to slack off in areas you know you can get away with it, we have the job already so we don’t care. He talked about showing up every single day whether it be your career or your fitness journey or starting a side business, you show up like it’s a job interview and you have to perform your best.

You doubted yourself but then you did it. You fell but you picked yourself up. You broke but you gathered the pieces and redesigned yourself. You have proved yourself to be stronger than every situation. You got this, like every single time, you got this.

Listen babe…be unapologetically you.

For the longest time I have been told I am loud, opinionated, a lot, intimidating, and protective.

To be honest even hearing those words gives me a reaction because I thought those were bad things that I should hate about myself. Heck even still I am so hard on myself in moments I am down for those things. I have even tried to not be those things - I try to be quiet and minimize myself to gain acceptance of others.

Today, I choose acceptance.

I am loud and I am also outgoing and I love connecting with others. I love being silly and I love laughing LOUD.

I am a lot - swipe to read a quote that addresses that one.

I am opinionated, everyone has an opinion? and I am also very self-aware and I am very knowledgable.

I am protective and I love and care so deeply for those in my life I would truly do anything for them. I keep my circle small and I give those people my ALL. I care so much for those in my life that it doesn’t matter where I am at I will drop anything to answer a phone call, check in with them, go to their house, etc. and I will ALWAYS stand up for those people. I recently realized I give give give to relationships and I don’t always get the same back. So yes, I am protective, and I also give too much.

This one is a hard one for me...I am intimidating. I am SO hard on myself for this one because that sounds like an awful thing. Until I was told once by a counsellor that people tell you you are intimidating when they are intimidated by you. The counsellor questioned in what scenarios do you hear this comment - I said in school, athletics, career, and in the gym I am told my work ethic, hard work, and drive are intimidating. The counsellor told me “Shai listen to what you just said…those are phenomenal qualities to have.”

I am starting to learn and man is it a journey…to embrace all of who you are, and be unapologetically you. You will always be “too much” for some people, too loud, too soft. Too this, too that. But you’ll always be perfect for the people who need you and want you in their life.

“…wellness is not a state of being, but a state of action.”

It is okay to feel anxious.
It is okay to feel scared of the unknown.
To be honest, that is n o r m a l.

That anxious feeling is because today you leave the comfort zone. That pretty little safety net that holds you back as it yells to you “stay here and you won’t be anxious.” Yell back at it, “I was meant for more and I will achieve more.”

The unknown is scary - it’s like a dark deep hole and you don’t know how to navigate it so it’s terrifying. What will happen? What if this happens? What if that happens? What if I fail? What if I can’t reach my goal? Your brain is fighting your choices and questioning all your decisions. Today choose to challenge your mind - what happens if I succeed? What happens if I pull it off? What is the worst thing that would happen if I failed? You learned and grew from it, that in itself is a win.

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Imagine you’re climbing a mountain with a 50lb weight in your backpack 🎒 and our society tells you to hike it alone and carry the full weight. But imagine a collectivist society where you carry 10lbs and give 40lbs out to other people around you and hike it together.

Which one sounds easier? 🤔

Westernized society continues to promote individualism and this idea that something is wrong with YOU and YOU need to figure it out, YOU need to be strong.

Strength is NOT going through a mental battle alone.
Strength is NOT figuring it out all alone.
Strength is in connection.
Strength is in vulnerability.
Strength is in numbers.
Strength is reaching out for support.

Trust me for the longest time, even today I struggle with asking others around me for help. I’ve been the “strong” person my whole life and that idea makes me feel alone sometimes in whatever I’m facing. I feel the need to be “strong” which we are taught means handling your own s**t. I try to go at everything alone only for it to come crashing down. There’s people around you that want to help you, you are not a burden, you are not alone, open up your heart and let vulnerability and connection bring you strength.

Who is your support system? Tag them below ⬇️
