Early in my career, coaching was driven by observation, relationships, and intuition. Technology felt unnecessary — even distracting.

Today, I believe technology can be a powerful tool when used with intention.

Data doesn’t replace coaching. It sharpens it.

When applied properly, technology helps us:

• monitor readiness and fatigue • track adaptation over time • identify trends invisible to the naked eye • create better conversations with athletes

What metrics truly matter? Which ones are internal, and which ones are external?

These questions can be difficult to answer and should rarely be approached alone. Building a trusted support team is essential — coaches, medical staff, mentors, and performance professionals who can provide honest, compassionate feedback.

In my experience, success revolves around committing to the process of preparation. The daily work required to grow as an athlete often includes tasks that feel monotonous, repetitive, and at times, unexciting. Yet these small, consistent actions are what separate long-term performers from short-term success stories.

A large percentage of athletes become overly focused on outcomes. When that happens, it can distract from the daily behaviors that truly drive performance and career longevity. For me, the definition of success is broader: a long career, sustained health, and growth both mentally and physically.

How does today’s athlete define success beyond wins and losses?

As a performance coach, I can only control what I can control. I cannot prevent every injury or influence everything that happens on the field of play. Because of that reality, my primary focus becomes availability and opportunity.

If an athlete is available to participate in their sport — whether that’s practice or competition — they give themselves the opportunity to succeed.

In season training continues… as has always said KISS(keep it simple stupid). Don’t over complicate in season training. Do what you can, touch all the qualities you built up in the offseason.

In season training is vital to optimal performance. Obviously it will look different from the summertime with reduction in volume and more focused on the needs of the athlete. Create your optimal in-season training routine by building it around your schedule, don’t force it instead look for opportunities to continue to build on your foundational needs ( speed/strength power etc ). The training doesn’t stop, it adapts to the schedule and the sport !

Having athletes back home for the holidays is always a fun time of year . We love hearing about the ups and downs of the season and making plans for what’s next.

Keeping that lean muscle from the off-season is tough, especially when the grind of the in-season kicks into high gear . Weight management for athletes is a consistent topic around this time of year as game volume goes up and athletes begin to look at ways to maintain or improve on ice performance. See below for a few quick tips and reach out to your coach so you keep those summer LBS! 💪

- spend a 3-5 days tracking your food intake
- look at your output, how many on ice sessions, off ice etc
- look ahead on the calendar and plan for travel

Incredible week with bathofficialinstagram ! I had the opportunity to speak to the entire organization about a range of topics including the health and wellness industry, building a personal brand and embracing discomfort. We got to work as well with some morning training sessions and cold exposure in the new cold tubs! Thanks again to all the executives who took part !

Special thanks to for hosting and letting me set up my travelling training space!
