A fun & simple game anyone can play. I would take a copy of the game with me to house parties or on the road and pull it out if there were people and time.
A card game that was simple enough but entertaining enough that I wanted to play with my children when they were in their single digits. Although my daughter crossed into the tens and my son long left his knee high days (taller than me now), the game has proved a staple around our house and among our friends and family. Over the decade since the first copy, I've printed small (and very expensive)
runs of the game to gift to loved ones and have had the pleasure of hearing how surprisingly fun and easy it was. It was always easy to pull fellows into a round or two or many more, and I always considered it a big win that adults could enjoy an activity with its minimal agency and cost in attention. Like a complicated Go Fish or simplified Uno that engaged without consuming your brain cycles. After some time I decided to see what 'the public' would think of the game and demonstrated it at Quantum Games in Kelowna, British Columbia. With my daughters help we showed the game off to various parents and their young children, some of whom were very trepidatious. However, each and every time we had the pleasure of a guest play, we found ourselves playing a second or even third round with and each time I was personally stunned to watch even the most uncertain of children become Vegas level card sharks, pounding down unironic victories of their own doing. If that wasn't enough, the surprised and endearing expressions of so many fellow parents was unbelievably gratifying. To see a parent watching their child expressing, growing and surprising them, is an incredible treat that I wasn't ready for and each time I recount this it's sincerely moving for me. Without question, that was what sealed it for me. I've always enjoyed designing and showing off games and appreciated peoples attentions thereby with it, but to know that I'd developed a legitimately inspiring bit of fun for everyone who plays it is something I couldn't hold back upon any longer. I wanted to share it with everyone. Thank you for your support in this endeavor. I hope to design more games that folks can enjoy just as much as they're enjoying crazy shapes.
