We might be stating the obvious here, but the best way to prepare for a long-distance hike is to start walking as many kilometers as possible. In general, itโ€™s recommended to start training at least 4 months before your hike. But if you're starting from scratch, there are some extra things to keep in mind. Letโ€™s start at the beginning!

The key to building endurance and strength is a gradual approach. Rushing into long distances too quickly can lead to injuries and burnout, so take it step by step. Start with a distance you feel comfortable withโ€”this will vary depending on your fitness level. For example, try walking 7.5 km three times per week, and gradually increase your distance.

A good rule of thumb is to take a rest week every three weeks. During this time, you can still walk, but cut down your distances to allow your body to recover. After the rest week, continue increasing the distance. This way, youโ€™ll build stamina without overloading your body.

This helps your body adjust and prepares you for the extra strain on your back and shoulders. Make sure the pack is fitted properly to avoid unnecessary pain or discomfort.

No adventure is complete without a little caffeine boost, and I never hit the trail without my trusty Italian moka pot. Thereโ€™s nothing better than kicking off the boots, brewing a fresh cup, and enjoying that well-earned moment of pure bliss. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™€๏ธ
