It is with profound sadness that we share that a participant in Saturday's Across the Lake Swim in Kelowna tragically passed away.

Our hearts are with the participant's family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who responded with compassion, care, and professionalism throughout this tragic event.

Meet Jan! 👋 Jan is our On-Land Safety Director for the Across the Lake Swim Kelowna, and she's one of the people working behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly on event day.

From coordinating our safety boats and paddlers to organizing our on-water safety team, Jan helps keep everyone connected and ensures the right people are in the right place at the right time.

It's a big job, and one that most participants never get to see, but it's an essential part of delivering a safe and well-organized event.

If you see Jan on Saturday, be sure to say hello (if she's not too busy! 😉) and thank her for everything she does to help make the Across the Lake Swim possible.

This Saturday, more than 1,200 swimmers will take on Canada's largest open water swim as they make the unforgettable crossing of Okanagan Lake at the Across the Lake Swim Kelowna.

For some, it's their first open water swim. For others, it's an annual tradition that they've looked forward to all year. No matter why they're swimming, it's going to be an incredible morning.

To everyone who's registered, we can't wait to see you at the start line.

And if you're not swimming, come down to City Park and cheer everyone on as they finish. The energy at the finish line is something you won't want to miss!

Some heroes wear swimsuits. Others zip them up. 😄

Every open water swimmer knows the struggle. You're all geared up, goggles are ready - and then you realize you can't reach the zipper.

That's when a friend steps in.

One of the things we love most about our events is how often swimmers help each other, whether it's zipping up a wetsuit, calming first-time nerves, sharing last-minute advice, or celebrating together at the finish line.

It's a simple moment, but it's a great reminder that open water swimming is about more than just getting from one shore to the other. It's about the people you meet along the way.

💦 It's not all about the big kids!
The Across the Lake Swim Kids' Shore Splash presented by WETS is happening this Saturday, and it's FREE for all kids ages 5–12!

This fun, non-competitive swim is the perfect way for kids to be part of the excitement while parents, family, and friends cheer them on from the beach. It's all about having fun, building confidence, and making great memories.
