What an incredible journey through the Azores! We left our hearts there, and the breathtaking landscapes will forever be etched in our minds. The majestic Caldeira’s and thermal pools on Sao Miguel Azores were truly awe-inspiring. Flying to Ilha do Pico - Acores, we were humbled by the highest peak in Portugal towering above us. The quaint villages offered a glimpse into local life, with our host’s homemade fish dinner, caught fresh that morning, and garden-picked veggies, being the perfect farewell. Taking the ferry to Sao Jorge Island, we left a piece of ourselves, yearning to return. The natural scenery was simply stunning. Lastly, a ferry to Faial, our 4th island in the Azores, was a perfect blend of town and beauty. I highly recommend the Azores to anyone seeking nature and hiking. First leg done. Bidding farewell to Sao Miguel, an island that indulged us with breathtaking landscapes and untouched natural beauty. From the outset, the stunning drive lined with hydrangeas to the blue and green calderas, and the 40 degree thermal pools in Ferrara, left us in awe. Day two’s visit to the thermal pools of Caldera Velha and the hike in Furnas, with steam rising from the earth, was equally impressive. The final day’s descent into Lagoa do Fogo’s crater was an unforgettable experience, and the challenging climb back was a testament to our perseverance. We then headed to Santa Barbara, a surfer’s paradise, where we watched the sunset over incredible food. The day concluded at the Gin Library, home to over 2200 varieties of gin from around the world.
