As some of you know, my uncle was the loveliest old Japanese Man in the world.

He loved to watch baseball, but I never saw him get into the competitive spirit of the game.
He enjoyed watching either side play well.

I’m glad that I moved back to Canada when I did, and got to see him quite a few times.
I wrote my wedding vows in the upstairs of his house in Hope.

My Dad told me that his dad
(The grandfather that I don’t remember meeting)
told my dad’s sister,
‘You shouldn’t have married one on them’
And that she never spoke to him again.

And I’ve always loved her more for that.

I’ll now see the mountain,
that looks out over his house
in Hope
as a monument to him
and his wife, Shirley
