A small but mighty crew descended on Thunder Bay for a double feature of wrestling at Lakehead University, first for the LWC Wolf’s Den Invitational and then the Gord Garvie Memorial Tournament.
A quick recap:
On day one, Lou didn’t stop shooting but wasnt able to finish, despite that he was all smiles. Day two Lou made gains each match and was able to apply changes wrestling kids 2-3 years older!
On the first day, Blakely attacked more than any of her opponents, winning one and dropping two. On the second day Blakely showed great head control that lead to well-timed leg attacks, coupled with great leg defence, she was able to take both matches in the second session.
Day one, Haley wrestled well against a very experienced boy. She went 1-1 before an injury. On the second day, Haley showed her grit and toughness fighting back but dropping a close one.
August wrestled four matches on day one, winning the first three by tech and the last by pin. Day two, August continued to develop his adaptability, switching up his game plans match to match, taking those W’s too.
Thank you to Coach KG and Chris for taking care of our athletes on the mat, and for the families who made the trip.
Thank you to Lakehead Wrestling Club for hosting us at two great events!

We are incredibly proud of our elementary wrestlers who competed at the WAMMA Nex Gen Tournament in Winnipeg! Every athlete stepped onto the mat with focus, determination, and a clear set of individual goals and each one met those goals through hard-fought matches and personal growth.
What made the day even more special was the team atmosphere. Athletes and parents came together to cheer, encourage, and support one another, showing what it truly means to be part of a team.
Tournament Results:
1st Place: Lou & August
2nd Place: Blakely & Ezra
5th Place: Chase, Haley & Ben all battled relentlessly in tough brackets and never backed down
Congratulations to all of our wrestlers for their effort, sportsmanship, and all of the coaches couldn’t be prouder of this group for all of their hard work on and off the match.
