My new years resolution this year was to lose weight to become stronger and healthier. It's been almost a month and I'm on track to being 20 pounds down by the end of January! One of the ways I've been doing this is by keeping track of my calories and making sure I'm always in a calorie deficit while still eating healthy foods that taste delicious and keep me full.
Want to know more about what a calorie deficit is and how it helps with weight loss. Check out this article by Men's health

Sleep is important!!
Without good sleep consistent sleep you run the risk of health complications.
Examples start with brain fog, lack of energy, weight gain to higher risk things like mental health issues and further body break down.
The average recommended amount of sleep is between 6 to 8 hours a day for full recovery from the day before.
It's not always easy to get but it's important. Take it from someone who works nights and doesn't always get enough himself 😉
Try adding naps into your day if you can't get at least the 6 hours.
This is just one of many roadblocks I run into with clients trying to achieve there goals, it can be easy to fix and not everyone thinks it makes a big difference but it does.
Stay healthy and happy

My month in review is simple. "Improvement" because that is all I truly have control over
I set out with some goals in mind for myself. Came up with 5 very important ones.
1: Become stronger, while also losing weight ( a slower process then most like haha)
2: Never let fear stop me from doing what I want to do again
3: Be patient in the process
4: Become better in every aspect of martial arts
5: Help as many people as I can through these same struggles

Each day is a new beginning. The past is behind us, be in the present that is where the magic happens.
Mental health is important to me, like many people at one time or another, I have suffered from depression, I have anxiety about some things. It's hard and can feel like a giant weight is on you.
Staying in the present moment and not the past or dwelling on the future is a big help. Breath deeply, drink more water, make sure you are sleeping well "no distractions like phones or outside light", move your body every day. Build a trusted support structure of like minded people. These are all things that can and have be proven to help at the very least
If you are suffering in silence with mental health issues or know someone who needs help or a simple boost please don't hesitate to get help. Seeking help is a true sign of real strength and the first step to moving forward in your life.
