🚨 IT’S PWHL DRAFT DAY! 🚨

Today is the day! Over in Detroit, the next chapter of professional women’s hockey is being written, and our entire Valley hockey community is bursting with pride!

We want to send the biggest, loudest "Good Luck" wishes to our own hometown heroes hitting the draft board today:

To watch these four incredible women go from skating on our local Annapolis Valley rinks to standing on the cusp of the pros is nothing short of magical. They aren't just chasing their own dreams today—they are actively making history.

But today is about even more than our four local superstars. We are sending love and good luck to ALL the incredible women declaring for the draft today. Every single one of them is a pioneer helping to build a future where young girls don’t just watch professional sports on TV—they see a real, clear path to get there themselves.

To every young player currently wearing the Valley Wild jersey: look at the screen today. Soak it in. These women paved the road so that one day, it can be your turn. 💙🤍

The draft kicks off tonight at 6:00 PM AST! Put on your jerseys, grab your cheering squad, and let’s make sure they can hear the Annapolis Valley all the way in Detroit! 📣🏒

VALLEY PRIDE SPOTLIGHT: BRETTE PETTET (Kentville)

When it comes to elite hockey in our region, Brette is a household name. After a dominant four-year pro career overseas, she brings an incredibly experienced, "pro-ready" leadership presence to this year's draft pool!

Annapolis Valley Roots: Grew up developing her elite skill set in local youth programs before moving away to hone her game at the world-renowned Shattuck-St. Mary's prep school to prepare for the highest levels.

The NCAA Standard: Played 172 career games for the powerhouse University of Wisconsin Badgers, racking up 95 points, helping lead the team to two NCAA National Championships, and serving as a team captain! 🫡🏆

Championship Pedigree: A proven winner across the globe, capturing a U18 World Championship Silver Medal with Team Canada before spending four elite seasons wearing the captain's "C" for Djurgårdens IF in Sweden's top pro league! 🇸🇪🥇

Academic Elite: Her character has turned heads for years—she graduated from Wisconsin with a stellar GPA with a double major in Civil & Environmental Engineering, proving you can dominate at the highest athletic level while thriving academically. 🎓🌍

Brette's incredible journey from our local rinks to captaining elite teams on the world stage shows our young athletes exactly what can be achieved through dedication and passion. Best of luck in Detroit, Brette!

Huge congratulations to Mae Batherson on signing a historic two-year deal as one of the first-ever players for PWHL Las Vegas! 🎰🔥

Mae is a Valley girl through and through, and the energy across our community today is electric. Her roots run deep here, and she is a massive inspiration and role model to so many of our Valley Wild players who look up to her.

Seeing one of our own head to the desert as a cornerstone for a brand-new franchise is pure magic. Las Vegas is getting an absolute powerhouse on the blue line!

Valley Wild Roots: Skated with Valley Wild through her core minor hockey development, bringing that signature local determination to the ice before moving on to star at the prestigious Kent School.

The NCAA Standard: An absolute iron woman who played 144 career games for the UConn Huskies, breaking out in her senior year to lead the entire roster with a spectacular 16 goals and 27 points.

Championship Pedigree: A proven winner on the biggest stages. She etched her name into program history by scoring the legendary Overtime Game-Winning Goal against Northeastern to capture UConn's historic, first-ever Hockey East Championship title! 🏆🥇

National All-American: Her resilient character has turned heads for years—she overcame multiple major injuries to earn prestigious 2026 NSCA Strength & Conditioning All-American honors this spring for her ultimate accountability and maturity. 🎓💪
