Last night Dawson and I had some fun in the ring..
Working on Theresa’s balance and control.
Dawson was freestyle on Josie ♥️

She was joking of course.
That was the refreshing part.
We understood each other’s humour.
Her and I have an amazing relationship and I adore her dearly.
I felt I was ready for a new chapter…
So, when on maternity leave with Carter…
Daydreaming…
Wishing I could keep both of my boys out of daycare.
I had decided to launch our Bur Creek Farm business.
It had opened my eyes to what I was truly capable of and the beginning of something new and exciting!
Here we are now..
That meeting on that day changed my life forever.
And although she was kidding, it has stuck with me since.
I am so beyond grateful ♥️

What is even happening here? 🤔
We're weighing hay. 🌾⚖️
Why? Because not all horses are the same! 👏
Some are easy keepers, while others are hard keepers. When you have a mixed herd, feeding everyone the right amount can become a bit of a science.
Some horses look at a patch of grass and gain weight... kind of like how some of us look at a slice of bread and suddenly become the whole loaf. 🍞😂
Others could eat the bread and the bag and still lose 5 lbs. Senior horses are especially good at keeping us on our toes! 👀
A horse should generally eat 1.5–2% of its body weight in dry forage each day. This bale weighs 34 lbs, which would be considered too much for a typical 1,000 lb horse.
But is it really too much?
That depends...
🐴 Their activity level
🌾 Access to pasture
⚖️ Their metabolism
❤️ Their overall health and body condition
👴 Their age
In the horse world, ask ten horse people and you'll probably get ten different answers—and honestly, they may all be right.
Every horse is an individual, and that's why today I showed up at the barn with... a scale. 😂
The things us horse people do! 🤎🐴

We would have a bald pig. 🤭😅
Just kidding.. it’s completely normal.
Pigs completely drop all of their hair once or twice a year—often starting with the sides and belly, leaving a temporary mohawk or vest of hair on their back and shoulders before going totally bald.
Any guess on how long it will take for them to escape again… or does anyone have faith in me that I’ve won this battle? 😅🥴
